05 Explorer - whistling noise

This only happens when there is high winds... it's a really high whistle coming from the front of the SUV? If it really windy it constantly does it. Do you know why it does this and can I do something to make it stop?

Chances are the windshield is not seales properly. Have a glass shop do this for you.
If you are curious, make sure you have an extra set of keys ( just incase the doors lock ), start the engine, windows all up,blower fan on high, let engine run for about 10 - 15 minutes and spray around windshield with garden hose, air bubbles will appear where the un-sealed portion is located at.
Please rate this.

I own a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. At highway speeds I hear a loud winding noise coming from what sounds like the right front of the car. And also a whistling noise on deceleration.

sounds like you have an hole where air is blowing past. check for any missing screws or holes. if a mounting brace for any hoses or pipes that run under the vehicle have come loose they could whistle as well. if the noise during deceleration only happens when you brake then it's time for new brake pads.
hope this helps

check the idler pulley and tensioner I have seen this before coming from a idler pulley bearing on a Honda I sprayed some pb blaster/wd 40 on the center of the pulley and it stopped only for like 30 seconds but that's how I figured out which pulley was causing the noise

Why has my 2004 trailblaizer suddenly start to overheat and make a whistling noise?

First check the thermostat being stuck open causing high temp, can take out and drive to check or replace, inexpensive part. Not sure on whistle, maybe window slightly cracked or vacuum line disconnected or cracked

Loud whistling noise when 65 to 70 miles an hour

This is sometimes caused by moulding lifting around the windshield and on the panel housing the wiper arms. Sometimes the moulding is affected by temperature. The best thing to do is trial and error taping of a small section of the moulding or the panel covering the wiper arms. What is happening is an edge is poking up and catching the wind. By taping a small section, you are smoothing out the edge that is making noise. Once found, just try removing the tape and then use a clear silicon to fill in the edge gap.
You would be getting water in the vehicle if the wind was coming through the front bottom gasket of the windshield

Whistling Noise whilst driving

As with all unusable vehicle noise complaints it is important that the noise be listened to first hand, so have a shop test drive this with you on board to point out the noise to them when you hear it start in your vehicle

At high speeds, I here a high pitched squeal coming from the passenger side dashboard. Its like the wind is reflrcting off something and it makes this annoying sound. Can you help me figure this out.

I'd check the passenger side mirror first, make sure it is tight to the window frame, no gaps. It causes a wind noise or whistle. It could be from the outside of the truck, try to pin point. Does noise go away with either window down? Does noise get louder turning in one direction (wheel bearing)? Does it get worse then seem better (could be tire noise)? Eliminate fan motor, and radio. Does it get worse with vehicle speed or just engine speed?

2004 ford freestar 4.2L engine...high pitched

this sounds odd but mine did this when i replaced the wipers. it seems the design of the wiper frame was making a whistle at higher speeds. the freestar wipers are exposed on the window cowl and not hidden so they endure the winds at high speed. it is worth a shot.

Wind whistle noise

To determine what's making the whistle, try putting some tape over anything that might be causing it. I'd tape over any trim or moldings to try and find out where its coming from. You might try a wide roll of tape over the window edges, and trim points, if the whistle stops, take off a section at a time and recheck until it appears again, and you know what's causing it. Try to keep the tape flat, or you might create some new whistles! Let me know how you do. countrycurt0
