Question about 2006 Honda Pilot

Is there a lock nut holding the caliper bolts on a 2006 accord it looks like i need to get a second wrench to hold a nut while i loosen the caliper bolts.

Its not a lock nut. Some cars have the retainer bolt screw into the slider pin. You will need a second wrnch to hold the slider pin as you unscrew the retainer bolts.

you need to remove wheel, you will need to remove the caliper and caliper holder, 3 bolts on bottom of the ball joint, 2 bolts holding shock tube, need to unbend the indent on the axle nut, then you need a socket that will fit the nut, remove the nut, there will be a ball joint, with a cotter pin in it, take it out and loosen nut don't take it off all the way, with nut on hit with a hammer, it will loosen up then take off the nut, this will allow the whole assembly to come off axle, then you take the assembly to a shop that will press out the old bearing and put the new one in, I suggest doing both, even if only one is making a grinding noise, after all is done and new ones are in reverse the way you took off

The starter nut is accessable but the whole bolt spins with the nut..how do you get behind the starter of a 87 bmw 325is to hold down the bolt and loosen the nut.


the BMW M20 motor's stater is bolted through to the transmission and needs a "Torx" style socket, the alternative bolt head is a 17mm that needs to be braced by a wrench accordingly.

How to change front brake pads on 2006 town and country


Loosen tire lug nuts. Jack up the car and remove lug nuts and tire. Remove two bolts holding the caliper in place. Remove the the two bolts holding pads in place. Hang caliper with a wire from wheel so brake line is not stressed. Mount new calipers in correctly and tigthen pad bolts. Put caliper on and tighten caliper bolts. Replace tire and lugs nuts. Jack car down and tigheten lug nuts.

How do you remove the rotors from a 1991 honda accord?


Loosen both front wheel lug nuts and raise car and support on jack stands. Remove wheels and have a friend hold brake pedal down and remove axle nut. Use a chisel or screwdriver to remove stake on nut to axle edge. I use a 3/4 drive set socket and remove axle nut. Rent it from Autozone. Remove caliper assy and support with coat hanger or bungee cord to hold weight of assy off of brake hose. Remove Cotter pin and nut on lower control arm. Separate with ball joint fork and pull strut assy away to the side while pulling stub axle through and out of the way. Remove 4 bolts holding rotor and hub assy. on the inside of steering knuckle and separate. Now remove 4 bolts on hub's outer side and separate rotor and hub. You can use a bar or large screwdriver between wheel studs to loosen the 4 bolts.

Slightly loosen tire lug nuts, raise car with jack, remove lug nuts and wheel, remove caliper bolts from brake calipers. Open cap on brake fluid reservoir, place folded towel over top of reservoir and set cap on the paper towel to hold it in place, use a large 9-inch C-clamp to squeez in on front brake pad about 1/8 inch. REmove caliper from rotor. Hang caliper from shock coils with strong bungie strap so there is no pressure on the brake line. Remove bolts from caliper plate and remove caliper plate. Using oversized phillips screwdriver end attached to a 3/8 inch flex wrench, you will carefully put light pressure in a counter-clockwise direction to remove the brass screws and tap the flex wrench at the same time with a large 3-pound hammer driving the screwdriver end into the top of the screw as you put more pressure on the wrench to loosen the screw. This is about the only way to remove brass screws without "damaging them" and they are a dealer item not found in parts store. There should be two screws holding the rotor on. Then spray liquid wrench or penetrating oil into all holes on rotor toward center to help dissolve rust. Wait three minutes then tap rear of rotor lightly with large hammer taking care NOT to hit the thin metal rotor shield. Eventually, this tapping force will loosen the rotor. Use same technique of tapping the flex wrench when applying pressure to wrench to tighten the brass screws when replacing the rotors.

  1. Slightly loosen hub center nut when all four wheels are on ground.
  2. Raise and support vehicle, then remove five wheel bolts and wheel.
  3. Remove hub center nut, then the wheel sensor,
  4. Press back brake piston using slip-joint pliers,
  5. Remove caliper from steering swivel member, then suspend in wheel housing with cable tie.
  6. Remove brake disc and back plate, then slightly loosen tie rod end nut.
  7. Press out tie rod end nut using puller tool or equivalent.
  8. Remove nut and tie rod end bolt, then the anti-roll bar to swinging arm nut.
  9. Remove outer ball joint nut.
  10. Press ball joint out of steering swivel member using puller tool or equivalent, installed on spring link.
  11. Remove nut and discard. This self-locking nut must not be reused.
  12. Remove three upper mounting nuts for MacPherson strut, then the strut.
  13. Clamp MacPherson strut in vice.
  14. Compress spring using spring compressor or equivalents.
  15. Hold piston rod and remove nut using MacPherson strut socket tool 89 96 662, or equivalent. This is a self-locking nut and must not be reused.
  16. Remove mounting and top spring seat, then the coil spring, gaiter and compression stop.
  17. Unscrew damper using wrench tool No. 89 96 670, or equivalent, then remove damper from strut.
  18. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
    1. Screw damper in place using wrench tool No. 89 96 670, or equivalent.
    2. Lower end of coil spring should abut against stop in bottom of spring cup.
    3. Position MacPherson strut on vehicle and install three retaining nuts on top mounting. Tighten nuts alternately, according to specifications.
    4. Always use new hub center nut with self-locking threads.

Need to change a rotor. what tools do I need I already have the calipher off. I now have to remove the caliper mount.


Just completed doing my rotor place a car jack stand or stack 2 blocks on each side of your A frame. Let jack down and place some blocks behind front of and rear of tires left on the ground. To remove your caliper mount look on reverse side of caliper mount for 2 large hex bolts. Lightly spray around them with some liquid wrench (try not to get spray everywhere). Remove bolts with a wrench and probably a hammer or a ratchet and a hammer. Tap lightly on wrench using short strokes. If this doesn't loosen the bolts use some heat (heated wrench technique) small propane kit to heat caliper mount not too hot just enough to heat it up to just above too hot to touch then reapply wrench tapping lightly. You need a C-Clamp to push the caliper in. After caliper is in remove c-clamp from caliper. If the caliper wont go in you have to replace it. Remove rotor cap with a flat head screw driver and hammer tapping around the edges lightly. Remove the pin out of the bolt behind the rotor cap. Remove nut then remove rotor. Some vehicles will not have a nut and pin system, just a shaft to hold the rotor in place. If the rotor is rusted on tap firmly on inside (back side) of rotor to break it loose from the rust . Spray rust with liquid wrench let sit for 2 minutes then wipe dry. Use a clean cloth or rag to handle new rotor. Slide new rotor on the shaft and replace nut the pin (if no nut and pin continue to next step. Place caliper over rotor and screw in hex bolts on back side of caliper using a wrench or ratchet tighten 1/2 turn of being tight. Re -attach caliper mount onto caliper. Tighten 1/4 turn past tight. Lift truck with jack replace tire and remove jack stands and or blocks from under A frame let truck down and remove blocks

Assuming that this Model has 4 Wheel Disk Brakes I will lead you the Best that I can. Remove the Tire, From there you will see a Large Disk with a "Caliper" Mounted on the top side that covers Both sides of the Disk. On the Back side of this "Caliper" on the Top and Bottom of it There is going to be a Bolt on the Top and Bottom. Some use Allen Wrenches and Some use Bolts or Nuts, Feel around and figure out which one you have. Remove these and Lift the Caliper Off of the Disk,BE CAREFUL WITH THE BRAKE LINE ATTACHED TO THE CALIPER AND DO NOT REMOVE THE BRAKE LINE! Remove the Brake Pads from the Caliper at this Point. On the Back of the Brake Pads that you just removed there should be Clips, Take these off the Old pads ans Install on the New Pads. Right where the Pads were on the Caliper there is going to be a Round Cylinder with a Large Hole in the Center, This needs to be Depressed back into the Caliper to get this Job done. On the Top of the Caliper there is a Small Bolt that is Round on Top and has a Small Hole in the Center Just like a Persons Head on a Nut. You MUST do the Next Steps Together to make this work CORRECTLY! Get a Wrench that fits the Small nut on top and Loosen it VERY LITTLE While you use a Pair of Channel Locks to Compress the Cylinder Back into the Caliper. You should see Brake Fluid come out of the Head in that little Nut. Once the Cylinder is Compressed Back into the Caliper Tighten the Little Nut Back down. Try not to let Air get Back into the Hole in the Nut that you are Loosening Or We will have a PROBLEM. So, Make sure you do BOTH of them at the Same time (Loosen nut WHILE Compressing Cylinder with Channel Locks). Install the New Brake Pads on the Caliper the Same way that they came off. Wipe everything off and keep it all Clean! Install the Caliper Back on the Disk and Replace the Bolts on Top and Bottom of Caliper. Get in the Car and Pump the Brake Pedal until it gets Firm and go to the Next one! This will work for all if you have 4 Wheel Disk Brakes. If you get two much air in the Lines the Brakes will go to the Floor and you will have to have a Helper Pump the Brakes while you Loosen the Little Nut on top of the Caliper. How do i take off the disc brakes on my 2001 toyota celica?


These instructions came from Auto Zone's website and their free, online repair guides. Just plug in your make, model and year and you can get exact instructions and pictures for your repair. Sweeeeeeet! Good Luck!
  1. Loosen the wheel lug nuts slightly.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4. Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper. Plug the end of the hose to prevent loss of fluid. Some brake lines have a union bolt and gasket type line attached to the caliper. Do NOT lose the washers.

  1. Hold the sliding pin and remove the bolts that attach the caliper to the torque plate.

  1. With two hands, lift up and remove the caliper assembly.
To install:
  1. Grease the caliper pins and bolts with Lithium grease or equivalent. Temporarily install the caliper on the torque plate with the installation bolts.

  1. Hold the sliding pin and tighten the installation bolts to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm) on the front wheels, and 14 ft. lbs. (20 Nm) in the rear.
  2. Attach the flexible brake hose to the caliper with new gaskets. Tighten the hose to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
Install the brake hose lock securely in the lock hole, in the caliper.
  1. Fill and bleed the system.
  2. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts.
  3. Before moving the vehicle, make sure to pump the brake pedal to seat the pads against the rotors.
  4. Check for leaks.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2. Remove the wheels.
  3. Disconnect the brake hose from the caliper.
  4. Remove the bolts that attach the caliper to the torque plate. If applicable, hold the flats of the sliding pin with a wrench while loosening the caliper attaching bolts.
  5. Lift up and remove the caliper assembly.
To install:
  1. Install the caliper and loosely install the bolts.
  2. Hold the flats of the sliding pin with a wrench, then tighten the bolts. Tighten to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm) except on Celica rear calipers. Tighten the bolts on Celica rear calipers to 34 ft. lbs. (47 Nm).
  3. Connect the brake hose to the caliper, using 2 new washers.
  4. Fill the brake system to the proper level and bleed the brake system.
  5. Add brake fluid to the reservoir to fill to the correct level.
  6. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
