It sounds like you have a faulty tps (throttel position sensor). If the car has a check engine light on, any auto parts store can check them for free. You should also take a good look at the vacuum lines, intake tube, and the air filter. Any vacuum leaks can cause erratic behavior. You may also want to buy a can of mass air cleaner to spray down the mass air sensor and tps as well as any other sensors on the intake. I hope this information is helpful.

No Adjustment. What is the pedal doing? does it "feel" normal? is the fluid level OK? If its low, there is a leak. Replace the Master and Slave cylinder. If the clutch releases at the top of the pedal travel, the clutch is worn out.

Hi, I recommend you check the crank sensor connector for good pins and voltages. With the key on, you should get 12 volts across terminals 1 and 3 of the connector. If that's good, check the continuity of the center wire to the PCM, pin 5. The PCM is under the dash in the center under the control panel. You can do this without disconnecting the PCM--just back-probe the connector at pin 5 with an ohmmeter that is also connected to the center terminal of the sensor connector (you'll need a long wire to extend the ohmmeter from the engine to the cabin). Repair any wiring as necessary to achieve these specs, and let me know if you have any questions.
SOURCE: My 2003 Santa Fe will not stay in 5th gear! I have a new clutch!!! What's up??
This is not a clutch problem this is a worn part in the transmission causing this, have the transmission removed and torn down and inspected to see what is worn out and affecting the 5th gear.

Hi Malcolm , I want to help you with your question, but I need clarification on what the clutch pedal is doing, what do you mean by it "stays" up? You mean it will not depress at all?
Yeah that's right it won't depress at all I think it could be the master cylinder clogged up with something I don't think the clutch has gone but I can't get it out of gear as we'll now
