SOURCE: 2006 Chevy equinox ls 3.1 how do you bleed the radiator coolant system
If you look on the passenger front of the engine you should see a pipe coming up from the water pump housing. There should be a bleeder screw on the top. use a 9/32" socket to loosen the bleeder. Start the engine and keep bleeder open until coolant comes out. Close it and let the engine come up to temp while periodically opening the bleeder to let any additional air out. Keep an eye on the coolant level and top off as necessary.

locate the thermostat housing and see if there is a threaded plug in the housing , if so, when you refill the system with antifreeze, you can 1st remove this plug, and when the anti freeze starts coming out of the plug hole, it is bleeding the air out of the system, then replace the plug, and add antifreze if needed and then replace the radiator cap. start vehicle up , and make sure it has bled properly.

Fill the coolant to hot full. start it and get it to operating temperature, watch the tank because when the T stat opens the coolant tank will drop. Fill it hot full again, maybe just an inch or so over full. put the cap on. What I do is find a parking lot and drive around in circles( as fast as you can, 15 MPH is what I try to hit), left , then right. Doing this purges the air out of the heater core. It has worked on every car I have done. Even the impossible Ford taurus's
