Question about 2004 Dodge Ram 1500

1 Answer

When at operating temperature and leaving from a stopped position, I hear a "clicking" noise similar to a kids card in the bike spokes. The sound comes from the trans. but does not last more than a few seconds. No warning lights, error codes or noticeable driving issues. Should I be worried? I think it might be related to the lock up torque converter. 68k miles, 5.7, no previous issues. Just had fluid replaced at 62k miles

I have a 1997 Ford explorer. There is a funny clicking noise coming from the driver side front. The best way I can describe it is it sounds like a kid riding his bike with a playing card on the tire

If you have front wheel drive the clicking when car is in motion only could be a cv joint on its way out. They never leave this world quietly, and when they finally go, you stop going!

I doubt it has anything to do with the transmission.
When the brake pads wear most have a wear sensor that drags along the rotor.
Have you pulled the wheels and checked the brake pads ?

Strange noise (sounds like when kids put cards in spokes of bikes to make sound). Sometimes loud; sometimes low. (Kind of THUDY sound. On left hand side (near the wheels). Usually every day I drive it;...

sounds like it may be bad wheel hub bearing. wen going down road with no traffic steer left then right left right and see if noise gets louder and softer wen weight shifts from side to side. if it does u may need to get new hub bearings

My jeep makes a sound from the rear for example today backed out of a parking spot and a loud clicking kinda like if u put a baseball card in the spoke of a bike only louder

Check the back brakes . I believe you have drum brakes in the back. The brake hardware. ie..Springs, clips.. come apart sometimes. And this will cause the clicking noise you hear

Clicking noise, 2004 Toyota 5-speed

Check your CV joints - usually you'll hear them clicking the most when you turn a corner while pressing on the gas, but they can make noise like that while you're driving straight. Given that it's most prominent above 35mph, I'm not sure that this is going to be the issue, but it's worth checking - if it is a CV joint, and it breaks, your car will coast to a stop and you won't be going anywhere except on the back of a flatbed.
