Yeah, but if your gonna change your trans fluid you might as well get a trans filter, its only about twenty bucks and it comes with the new gasket. I hope that helps you out!

Mitsubishi express van 2.4 auto not changing into 4th gear. Any ideas?

If it's hesitant to shift, or not shifting at all, it could be a simple fix.
The first thing you'll have to do is to check the transmission fluid. Allow your van time to completely warm up before doing this. I recommend you do this while it is running. If it is low on fluid, there's your problem. If the fluid level is okay, then you may need the transmission filter and fluid both changed. Changing you fluid/filter is relatively simple. It's similar to an oil change with the exception being that the filter is inside the transmission, visible only when you remove the transmission pan. The filter isn't like an oil filter, it's more akin to your filter on your home A/C unit. Some have a replaceable filter, and some have a permanent filter that you'll have to remove and clean before re-installing. If you do need to replace it, they are inexpensive and found at any auto parts store. If it's still giving you problems, unfortunately it may be an internal problem that you'll have to take to a transmission specialist. Make sure to find out exactly how much fluid it holds and what type of transmission fluid it needs before you change it.

1991 toyota tercel 1.5 automatic trans. drove to my nephews house and then back home "17 miles round trip" about half mile from home car wont shift first gear to second

Jorge, as richie46 recommended check trans, fluid level. At higher mileages,150,000 the automatic transmission may not shift correctly. This can be caused by the throttle position sensor out of adjustment or a shift solenoid needing to be replaced. Typically the transmission does not need to be completely overhauled.

1995 buick century special Transmission fluid leak. I had my transmission modulator valve replaced and the car ran much better on test drive and morning drive to work. On the way home halfway there in...

I believe that I would take it back to the shop that replaced the modulator valve immediately. It sounds like they either left something loose, or didn't get a seal or gasket properly replaced. You definately run the risk of burning the trans up with it leaking that bad.

2005 f 250 feels like the transmission is slipping from 1st to 2nd gear. could the trans just need to be serviced?

Hello tat... begin by checking the tranny fluid level. Add fluid to fill it to just over the max full level.

Drive it for ten miles and see if that alone solved the problem. IF not, have it serviced and have the belts tightened. Joe

You keep adding transmission fluid, but make no mention of the transmission being low on fluid. Is it losing transmission fluid? There are two sensors that seem to need replacing quite often. The input and output speed sensors on the transmission. They are accessible under a protective cover on top of the transmission. Replacing these sensors seems to help for a while. You need to have the transmission fluid drained and a new filter put in. Have the car's computer scanned and cleared of trouble codes. These are temporary fixes. The information I could find on Kia Forums is that this is a Chrysler manufactured transmission and had a history of problems. If you are still under warranty, you should insist on a new transmission or rebuild the old one.

SHIFT TRANSMISSION THROUGH ALL GEARS TWICE THEN BACK TO PARK.MAKE SURE ALL DRIVE WHEELS OFF THE GROUND AND VECHICLE IS FIRM AND SECURE ON JACKSTANDS.WHILE ENGINE RUNNING REMOVE LEVEL CHECK PLUG.REAR OF TRANSMISSION PAN. IF TRANSMISSION FLUID DRIPS YOUR FLUID LEVEL OKAY.IF TRANSMISSION FLUID POUR OUT CHECK PLUG HOLE YOU HAVE TOO MUCH FLUID IN TRANSMISSION.IF NO FLUID COME OUT ADD TRANSMISSION FLUID RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRANSAXLE IN FRONT OF THE DRIVE SHAFT.WARNING THIS VECHICLE TRANSMISSION FLUID SUPPOSE TO BE CHECKED AT A GARAGE ON LIFT. YOU CAN CHECK FLUID AT HOME IT IS DANGEROUS THE ONLY THING YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE VECHICLE ON SOLID LEVEL GROUND AND JACKSTAND SECURE SOLID NO MOVEMENT WHAT SO EVER.

Check the transmission fluid level and condition of the fluid. Add Automatic Transmission Fluid as needed and do not over fill. Have the transmission line pressure tested and service the transmission. "replace the transmission oil and filter" Star with that and hope the transmission is not gone to far that you may need any other transmission. Keep me posted and shop around to find a good transmission shop.
