My 1996 Chevy S10 Blazer

Smells like gas and jerks then stalls while driving. I have to wait awhile for it to start back up. My pocket scanner says no codes available. It has a carburetor by the way.

Hello Sandra Duran,

I have never found a really good way of proving this... perhaps your local friendly muffler shop can check it out...

But I have had similar symptoms ULTIMATELY strand me... because of blocked EXHAUST... TWICE.

One CATALYTIC CONVERTER... the other a rusty MUFFLER
(different cars... different decades).

Hope this helps...!!

Sandra, You probably will not get code from computer as it may not be hooked up to an engine running a carburetor in a 1996 Blazer. Carbureted engines were not installed in 1996 Blazers. Could be a lot of things, choke sticking/faulty,dirty carb, not set properly, bad plugs/wires, fuel filter/pump, faulty distributor/cap/rotor/electronics,vacuum leak, etc.
Best to have a good tech. have a look and estimate repair.

I have a 2003 Nissan Murano and it's been stalling and jerking with strong gas smells coming inside car.

Question edited for clarity, punctuation and spelling.

There are lots of ideas here, but due to the fact you can smell gas, clean the Throttle Body with spray cleaner. It isn't shutting properly. Clean the MAF (Mass Air Fuel) sensor as well.

While driving my 1996 chevy blazer stalls out, repeatedly, what would cause this to happen

If this only happens when you let off the gas pedal when slowing down clean the throttle plate in thew throttle body. That should at least help with the problem if not solve it.

Why does the car stall in my 1996 s10 chevy blazer while running?

A car stalls when the engine receives a sudden massive increase in load (think when you were learning to drive - releasing the clutch too quickly would cause the car to stall by transferring too much friction too quickly from the gearbox to the engine)
If the car only stalls when you are setting out from stationary then better engine/clutch control control is needed, or there is a problem with fuel or clutch. If it is an old car, try putting more choke on when pulling away.
If the car stalls all the time, the general reason is that there is probably either a fuel or an ignition problem causing the engine to cut out. Of course, there could be any number of things wrong with your car if it stalls during normal driving

I have a problem with a chevy S10 blazer 4.3L CPI (VORTEX) 4x4. I have changed the MAP sensor Coil Spark plugs Spark plug wires fuel filter and battery. The fuel pump works fine and it rolls over. When it...

I would start checking crank sensors and cam position sensors. There may be codes present that are not readable by over the counter OBD scanners. To get the real low down on the problem, the vehicle needs to be hooked up to a MODIS scanner. Otherwise you are going to rack your brain and your pocket trying to figure it out. Especially if it's intermitent. There are just to many possibillities with all the modules and sensors that are in place these days.

1996 Chevy S10 stalls out 3 times before steady start

check for loose or cracked vacuum lines, and/or the rotor. It may not be making consistant contact.

96 Blazer stalls when hot on hotest days

I had a similar problem on my 95 jimmy. It was something that took a lot of time and money to diagnose, but now 3 years later...no proplems. Emissions requires the truck to have an EGR valve (exhaust gas recycle) and this deposits gunk (carbon residue) on your MAF (mass air flow sensor) If you catch it in time you can use a carbon cleaner from Autozone or checker Lightly on the MassAirFlow sensor. If not in time you may have to have either the MAF or EGR valve replaced and these are expensive. After a long period of time being undetected eventually the EGR valve will start smelling like sulfer, this means its to late to clean and save!

Hope this helps
