VW Golf Mk4 1.4 16v Oil Light Warning on Dash

Measure your oil at normal operating temp, without the engine running of course. This will give you a more accurate reading once the oil has circulated in the system.

The system works like this:
  • With the ignition on, the oil pressure indicator light on the dash should come on and flash. Once the engine is started, the light should go out and stay out as long as the engine is running.
  • If the oil pressure drops below approximately 0.3 bar or 5 psi when the engine is running below 2000 rpm, the light will flash.
  • If the oil pressure drops below approximately 1.8 bar or 27 psi when the engine is running above 2000 rpm for more than 3 seconds, the indicator light will flash and the buzzer will sound.
If either this two warnings occur:
  • The engine should be switched off immediately and the oil level should be checked.

Oil pressure switch location on 1999 chev cavalier

The oil pressure switch relays the oil pressure in the engine to the instrument cluster. The switch will illuminate the OIL PRESSURE light if the oil pressure drops below 2psi (13 pa). The switch is usually located on the side of the engine, under the intake manifold on the 2.2L engine and on the side of the intake camshaft housing on the 2.3L/2.4L engine.

Fig. 1: The oil pressure switch is located on the engine block under the intake manifold and is accessible from underneath the vehicle-2.2L engine

Other, the low oil level switch activates the OIL light in the instrument cluster when the oil level in the pan goes below a certain level. The switch is mounted on the oil pan.

Hope this helped (remember rated this post).

2000 daewoo nubira low oil pressure and no oil pressure sometimes

There are only two valid reasons for low oil pressure...bad bearings on crankshaft or obstructed oil pickup screen for pump...pump can be damaged by debris or hard carbon from either source but generally will not fail on it's own.
You may not be happy to hear this answer, but that's how it works on every engine, not just yours!!!
Good luck with it

Oil light is onin my 1999 daewoonubira i have topped up with oil and is still on now engine is making a noise

possible oil pump/pressure relief valve issue or pick up.
can remove pressure relief valve to clean/polish so it doesnt jam then check oil filter (how old?/blocked)
then recheck with oil pressure test gauge fitted to where oil pressure switch is to see what pressure pump puts out if any.

The lamp of engin oil is light when i stopped the car

Hi there ,
Generally if the engine oil lamp light is illuminating it is indicating that there is a problem in the oil system,
That could mean that its just overdue for a service,
Incorrect oil grade/type
Overfull or underfull oil level
Oil pressure switch faulty
Oil pump failing or an oil leak in the system.
I would highly recomend that you check it out before taking it too many places as oil is the only thing between your current engine and buying another new engine/car
Make sure you check the oil and water regulary its far easier then the other more expensive and painful options of replacing worn components.
Hope this helps you out in some way, If you need moer help just post back again and ill get to you asap
Cheers

My 2000 Daewoo Nubira leaks oil from engine

I would think that if the PCV valve were actually plugged, there may be enough pressure build-up to unseat the thing, which would cause most oil leaking from crankcase pressure to exit via the hole left where the PCV was. Just a guess. How many miles on this Nubira?

Oil leakage

The oil pressure release valve is located behind a large 3/4 lug on the oil pump, if you raise your vehicle and locate the oil filter, look up and to the right of the pressure sender switch, this nut should face to the rear of the of the car, undo it but have a cloth handy as oil will spill quite heavy from this once removed. Inside there will be a spring, remove the spring and to follow will be the valve, if the valve has a problem feed then you will have some trouble removing. Use a scribe to remove along with some (INOX) spray, spray it into the location and leave it for about 20 mins.
