You need to do a fault code test, any Autozone or Oreilly parts store will test it for free. DO NOT BUY ANY PARTS BASED ON WHAT A PARTS PERSON SUGGESTS, they are not trained technicians and will just cost you money and frustration.
If you have to move ignition switch back and forth that would be something to have tested. When my ignition switch went I had those exact same problem the car would turn off by itself like the switch was turned and had to cycle several times to get it started. The problem is it doesn't connect correctly
