Question about 2002 Oldsmobile Alero
I have replaced the radiator and the thurmostat water pump seems to work fine, but over heats in about 20 - 35 min. just siting in drive,
The best time for a vehicle to overheat is sitting still. Fans should come on after 10 minutes of sitting still. If they do not come on, you could have a bad relay or temp sensor.
Also using a thinner oil like 5W30 in the summer time. Or you could go with synethic which adjust to all climates and temperatures.
Using exactly a 50/50 coolant mix is required. No more than 60water/40coolant.
Lastly, check thermostat or replace, check water pump, and check to make sure exhaust is not plugged.
