You can repair it, but be sure to replace not only the clutch disc and pressure plate, but the throw out bearing as well. If is has a hydraulic clutch, I'd probably consider replacing the slave cylinder, also.
If the clutch has been slipping for a while, it may have heated the flywheel clutch surface to a point where it has "heat cracks" and little distortions.
If this is the case, you can probably see little spidery cracks and perhaps a "bluish" tinge around the cracks, indicating they have been hot. To be on the safe side, figure on having a machine shop reface (resurface) your flywheel. Since you'll have to pull the drive-shaft prior to dropping the transmission, it would be an excellent time to replace the tail shaft seal in the transmission.
If you do all this, you should be able to enjoy many more miles (at least where the clutch mechanism is concerned) of trouble free driving.
All the above is based on an assumption that you possess the necessary mechanical skills to do this job. If you don't feel comfortable with it, talk with friends, neighbors, and relatives to try and reach a consensus on a reputable local mechanic.
Good luck, what ever you decide to do!
