The compressor doesn't have any freon or the fuse is blown. The compressor has a pressure switch when it has the correct amount of freon in, the switch is closed. So if doesn't have the right amount it won't work.

Is there a reason for the cooling fan to work when the air conditing is off? Perhaps when you have outside air coming into the cab and you want more of the outside air? Your Owner's manual may help and may provide some trouble shooting help.

Cooling fan stays on when car is running

It is normal for the cooling fan to remain on when the air conditioning is on. Turn the air conditioning system off and see if the fan continues. If so, check the fan relay.

Fan will not turn off

which fan? Interior fan, or radiator cooling fan? Is it the radiator cooling fan, or the fan controlled by the air-conditioning?

Run the vehicle, turn on and off the air-conditioning to identify which of the fans in the engine bay is the one triggered by the air-con and which is the primary cooling fan.
If the primary cooling fan is permanently engaged, then first try replacing it's relay as it may have fused closed.

My saturn sc1 is overheating the air conditioning start blowing hot and the car starts to overheat

Sounds like a case of a bad radiator elec. cooling fan motor, fan should come on with a/c on, if it don't, check fuses, if fuse ok, check for voltage at cooling fan motor, if you do have voltage, replace elec. cooling fan motor.

Where is the air conditioner blower fan relay on 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee located?

The blower fan relay is located in the fuse box on the driver's side fender-well. A Jeep Cherokee uses an electric fan as an auxiliary fan for engine cooling and for cooling the air conditioning condenser when the air conditioning is in operation. A radiator temperature-sensing switch that activates the fan relay at 198 degrees F turns the fan on and controls its operation. The temperature drops when the vehicle is in motion and the switch turns the fan off. When the air conditioning system is in operation, the air conditioning relay supplies power to the fan relay via a fan diode downstream from the ignition switch. This diode activates the fan relay and keeps the fan operating as long as the air conditioning is on. Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

The cooling fan is running slow and the air conditioning is not working properly in my 2004 volvo xc90. Also the right side is not cooling. The air conditioning system gas is ok.

Have the alternator checked, and if it is fine, replace the cooling fan itself,it is bad,and if the right side does not start working ,then it is a actuator motor for that side, that is bad.

ENGINE COOLANT FAN NOT CUTTING IN

On my 2001 Focus Zetec 2.0L, the radiator fan only worked with the air conditioning turned on (as in no low speed - engine would overheat while idling or in traffic, but was fine as long as the A/C was on). The fix was to replace the radiator fan resistor assembly located in the fan shroud between the fans.
