Question about 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer

1 Answer

Makes a labored sound when accelerating; coming from area near fan/altenator. Suspect maybe one of the pulleys (tension, accesory, altenator, idler?) Also, notice decrease in gas mileage. Accelerates fine, no slipping; just labored noise.

Idler pully & or water pump also the alternator bearing will do this
fanbelt may have been too tight!
when belt is off check it again as it could also be the harmonic ballancer on the front of the crankshaft or a worn KEYWAY that locates it

2003 Rendezvous when I start to turn the ignition there is a humming noise and it continues after being turned on. As I drive the humming will increase with acceleration and decrease as I slow down.

If the noise appears to come from under the hood/engine area, suspect a bearing in one of the accessory pulleys to be causing the noise. ( Alternator/AC compressor/idler/tensioner etc ).

Clicking sound near cambelt

It might be the idler pulley or automatic tensioner. When either one dries up, the bearing wears out and starts causing whistling or whining noises, might need replacing. Try replacing the cheapest one, the idler pulley to see if it stops. If not, it might be your belt tensioner.

2 issues: 1. Voltage meter drops way low when idling or sitting at stoplight. All light flicker, and car acts like it will stall. Had the altenator checked, then changed, and had battery checked, no...

Check the belt tensioner and the idle pulley... (looks just like the pulley on the tensioner, but bolts straight in.).. - from experience...my single pulley was bad... after replacing the tensioner TWICE... (duhh!!)

2002 chevrolet pick up v6 excessive noise from belts replaced idler and tensioner ,no help power steering works fine ,altenator charging, a/c ok water pump ok rotated altenator, by hand when changing...

I would suspect the altenator, A/C pulley, or the belt. when you checked the altenator and a/c they have to turn smoothly with no play or roughness. If these checked out fine then I would check the belt, they do stretch.

2001 Chevrolet K1500 5.3 engine has a jingling noise around fan

it could be the tensioner .or it could water pump.you almost have to take off belt and spin by hand the individual pulleys. also wile fan is still on and truck is off take the fan see if it moves back and fourth front to back it should have no play in it .because it is attached to the water pump shaft.

Engine whine

Could be anything that is attached to the serpentine belt. ie: starter, water pump, A/C compressor, tensioners, steering pump.

My guess is a bad idler pulley bearing (cheapest to replace).
