Question about 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier

1 Answer

The clutch fluid pored out from under the trasmition and now the clutch goes all the way to the floor. The car is a 1997 Chevy Cavalier 5 speed transmition. No warning before this happened. Some people have told me they think it sounds like a slave cylender. Can you give me some insite, maybe tell me where it is. I am a mechanical person. If I knew where it is I could most likely fix it. Thank you for your help.

Thank you so much for your help. Now I have another question, should there be a square hole under the transmission?

Its the slave cylinder!
it will be on the side of the bellhousing
[thats the big bowl between the engine gearbox]
easyily replaced or may just need a rubber kit & rebleed the system
Dont forget to re adjust the travel after bleeding

you obviously have torn a whole in the transmission sump!

lost the fluid it will need to be repaired asap!

hopefully no internall damge was done that depends on if it was driven after hitting sump & how far etc etc

My clutch pedal went to the floor in my 2003 chevy cavalier

check the clutch fluid level. if its empty, you have a leak, and you have air in the system. if there is no leak, and the fluid level is full, the problem lies in either the clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder.

O4 chevy cavalier clutch pedel goes down want come back up it is 5 speed it is leaking looks like it is coming from tranmission

The clutch slave cylinder is leaking. It's not a DIY job. The transmission has to be removed to get to it.
