What should I do?

On my way home from work I stopped at a drive thru window and suddenly a light on my dashboard that said brake came on and then my car just shut off. I had to push it out of the way and after a minute or two it started back up and I was able to race down the street to where I live. In my parking lot I noticed that there is an air hissing sound when I press the brake that I didn't notice before. I want to take it to a mechanic but I'm a little shaken up now and terrified of it shutting off again, possibly on the middle of the highway. Anyone have any idea of what could be the problem? Also, I don't know if this is relevant or not but for the past month there's been a grinding sound when I accelerate but it usually goes away after a little while. Lately, it hasn't gone away.

Your power brake vacuum booster has failed. That vacuum leak is causing the engine to stall out. Google youtube for a video of replacing the power brake booster in your 2003 Neon.

My inside dashboard lights and back break light suddenly stopped working so cant drive it at night. Its a 99 honda prelude. I've tried changing the light bulbs and the fuse but still not working.

If the dash lights are on the same circuit as the park lights. Chances are if no dash lights... no park lights. Unless the dash light dimmer switch is on the low position. Check park light fuse. If no brake lights... which are on a different circuit and you are sure the bulbs are ok check brake light fuse. If fuse ok, unplug brake light switch at brake pedal and cross the terminals with a jumper. If brake lights work, the brake switch is faulty. If still no brake light operation suspect a wiring issue

Dashboard lights out and also brake lights. does that mean the battery cables need to be changed?

Something is shorted. You have to find out what and where the short is.

My lights suddenly stopped working for my headlights, my brake lights and my hazards aren't responding. My dashboard lights also don't turn on. Powered windows don't respond either but the one twitches...

Check all the fuses to see if they are blown and replace them. If not the case then you will have to take it to a repair shop. Check for loose wires under the hood. Be careful when doing so, so that you don't get electrocuted .

All warning lights(e.g oil flow, charging/brake etc) and gauges(e.g temperature, speed meter, rave counter etc) on the dashboard have suddenly stopped working on my jeep grand cherokee 1996. also all...

Could be a fuse, but to be sure take it into a shop and have them run a diagnostic on it. If they ask you to pay, call another shop. Or you can take it over to Auto Zone and they'll run one for you for free. If they can't tell you anything you'll have to bring it to a shop where they have more sophisticated diagnostic tools.

Brake pedal went straight to the floor without resistance

Low or empty brake fluid . No red brake light lite . Brake line corroded maybe , where do you live ? Rust belt USA . Just had a similar problem in a 2005 chevy cavalier . Did you have to stop really fast ?

1998 Ford Escort dashboard warning lights and gauges not working.

Sounds like possibly the ignition switch is going out. Try jiggling the key in the ignition in the on position and see if your lights come back on.

Dashboard on Honda Civic 2002 not working

There is 2 harnesses near the bottom of the steering column that you should check. Also change the block fuses in fuse box.
