Question about 1999 Dodge Intrepid

Ac and deforst buttons have no power, blows hot on window only

I have a 99 intrepid, just recently changes the battery. Now my AC,defrost, temp adjustment, and mode control is not working. It only blows hot air on the windshield. All fuses check ok. My buddy is a Chrysler mechanic (he hates intrepids specially with 2.7) and he is totally stumped. I see several other complaints that sound identical to mine but no solutions. please help!!

Yeah we've tried that. We've even switched out the contral module. Still not working. The air was working great before the battery was replaced. I had just driven the car the night before the battery was replaced and all was good. Thanks for the help though.

Since your buddy is a Chrysler tech, he should know that the heater module can be recalibrated with the scan tool or pull the POSITIVE cable off for five mins and put back on restat the car and select all modes, I assume this worked prior to batt replacement, sevice manual helps you do a manual calibration in different modes. Air conditioning not working on dodge intrepid. added freon. still blowing out HOT AIR. what do i do now?

I have 2 ideas.

Idea 1: The clutch in your ac compressor could be out.

Idea 2: The ac compressor isn't getting any power. Use test lights on the connectors to the ac compressor to make sure it is getting power. (Test this before trying to change the ac compressor. It is way cheaper to fix a connection than to change the compressor.)

NOTE: ac compressor clutch is not available seperately for this car at discount auto parts stores.

Car turns off if ac or window deforst turn on even low setting

Well, The problem seems to be the AC unit. When you activate window defrost the ac unit also activates for some reason. Disconnect the wires from the AC unit and turn on the defrost, if the engine doesn't stop then you know that is the problem, if it does die then you have a vacum problem.

1997 dodge intrepid heater/ac fuse keeps blowing

I have a 96 Intrepid, and none of the signal lights work. I tried replacing the fuse, but this did not remedy the problem. Could this be a loose connection?

Sometimes the heat blows hot than blows cold

Try pulling trouble codes first. Run your car at idle with the blower control set at anything but off, the temperature in full cool and the right knob in defrost mode. Push the rear window defogger button until the instrument panel reads AC00. The BCM will chime and the A/C button will blink. Release the defogger button and wait until the A/C button stops blinking. The trouble codes will show up on the odometer. There isn't a vacuum hookup that I know about as these are electrical. Anyway, write down the codes and call a dealer or buy a service manual to interpret them.
