I have a 2012 Mazda 2. Sitting on the road and turning the steering wheel 90 degrees right and left it makes a clunking noise. Put up on a hoist and doing the same it makes no noise. What is it.

the noise is generated by the weight on the points that are turning
the hoist you should be using is a 4 post hoist that the car drives on and the wheels are still on the hoist
any hoist that leaves the wheels dangling in the air will not be suitable to find the fault
most likely a steering ball joint end , suspension ball joint or failed suspension rubber mount

How to remove 5.4 triton engine on a 2005 f-350

That' a big job. You need lots of tools and an engine hoist. En engine stand too if you don't want to lay it on the ground. You'll have to take off the AC compressor from the block so you won't loose the freon . Disconnect all the wire harness connections on the engine sensors. Take off the radiator fan and the radiator Remove the fuel lines Remove all vacuum lines from the engine manifold.Get the hoist positioned and find a good place on the engine to hook up the chain.Take off the access cover on the bell housing and remove the bolts holding the torque converter to the flywheel then remove the bolts holding the transmission to the engine. Put a jack under the transmission so it won't drop. Now remove the bolts on the motor mounts and jack up the engine with the hoist. Maneuver the engine forward to clear the transmission then up and out of the truck.

How to take an motor out of an 1976 Minnie

You need to take off the bumper and the door that covers engine access. You'll need a low boy engine hoist. Take out the radiator and push aside the AC condenser and oil cooler. Take off the fan blades from the watre pump pulley. Find a good place to hook up the chain on the hoist. Now go under the engine and remove the access cover on the bell housing. Take out the bolts that hold the torque converter to the flywheel. Now go after the bolts that hold the transmission to the engine. Put a floor jack under the transmission so it wont drop when you jack up the engine with the hoist. After you remove all the electrical wiring from the components on the engine remove the bolts on the motor mounts and raise the engine with the hoist . Pull the engine out while looking for anything that you didn't disconnect. Be sure the transmission doesn't drop when the engine separates from it.

The cable for the spare tire on my 2006 1500 works fine (it's all the way down) but the retainer did not lower at all so I cannot pick up the spare tire. Can anyone help? Thanks

  1. Rotate the hoist shaft counterclockwise until approximately 15 cm (6 in) of cable (1) is exposed.
  2. While holding the latch pin (3), fully depress the latch button (2) and release the secondary latch from the hoist assembly. Some side-to-side and/or up-and-down movement may be necessary to disengage the latch mechanism.
  3. Continue rotating the hoist shaft counterclockwise in order to lower the hoist the rest of the way.
  4. If this does not release the secondary latch, the spare tire hoist will need to be replaced. See the following procedure.
Important: If the spare tire hoist has been fully raised without a spare tire in place, the secondary latch mechanism may have become engaged. If this has occurred the hoist will not lower and the following steps will need to be followed:
