Yes, black smoke means the engine is over fueling and will cause cylinder wash and eventually scuff a cylinder. (cylinder wash is where the excess fuel "washes" the cylinder of it's oil for lubrication and leaves just fuel which does to lubricate very well.

Engine check light keeps burning

Black smoke is to much fuel. Have the codes read. Driving it like this will burn out the catalyst system. Not a cheap fix.

2006 f350 6.0 diesel hesitates, stutters under light load

These trucks have a history of epg valve problems . Sure sign is thick black smoke , Also you are suppose to drain water from filter case with a 6mm Allen wrench . Its on frame rail under drive seat . That filter is often over looked to . If the water hasn't been drained every month it destroys the injectors . My bet is the fuel filters . One filter underneath an one on top of motor .

I have a 2006 ford F350 that is hard to start in the morning (cold weather) and blows black smoke when it finally starts. The batteries are less than a year old.

Not knowing your experience with diesel motors,if the glow plugs are not being allowed to cycle it makes starting the motor cold much harder. If it has a block heater package that also helps to plug in. Keeps the coolant warm and in turn keeps the motor warm.

Why want 6.0 blow black smoke with banks 6 gun iq

Black smoke from a diesel is caused by overfueling, even with a banks the engine obviously is burning the fuel efficiently. Black smoke will not make your truck produce more power, i am not sure why you would want this to happen anyway.

White and black smoke comes out of tail pipe when running

Black smoke is a symptom of an overly rich fuel/air mixture. White smoke is a symptom of coolant entering the combustion chamber. I recommend you have this looked at by a professional ASAP. Severe engine damage will occur if you continue to drive it in this condition. You will also ruin the O2 sensors and the catalytic converter. Stop driving it until you can have it repaired.

Erratic idle brake light blinks on off idles up down when light comes on

it sounds like you may have a vacuum issue, obtain a diagram and be sure that all the lines are in the proper places and none are cracked, another possibilty is your MAPS, the black smoke is probably fuel so that means that the engine is getting too much fuel during load
