The ohms have to be the same or else the amp will overheat and/or cut out. I would guess the old sub was an 8ohm. You'll need a new amp, or a sub with the correct ohms. The odds of mounting the new amp in the same place is pretty slim since the factory amp was made to go there. You could always remote mount the amp.

The impedance is wrong, will not work.

Testimonial: "What should I do get a different amp for the subwoofer??? And can I put it in the same place as the factory subwoofer"

I believe GM uses 10 Ohm speakers, find anp that is compatible with that impedance. That is all I can offer.

What could be causing these 2 Audio issues I am having in my 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe?

The wires could be shorting or have a bad connection any where in the length from the radio to the sub woofer. I lost all sound in my Tahoe and thought that the connection was at the radio but never found a problem. One day on a hard left turn a loose chair in the back area of the Tahoe struck the right side panel which has the speaker and everything starter working.

I am adding a kicker 500 watt amp and a pair of 12" kicker subwoofers to my factory(non Boss - possibly Delco)audio system. I need to tap into the rear deck 6X9 bass speaker wires to make the kicker s

You will know if you have them O.O.S. ( out of synk ) they will simply not sound right. You want them hitting in the same polarity.
Make sure you check to see that you have disabled the on board amplifier(s) before just cutting the wires.
You didnt add any information about what type of automobile you have, other than saying "Delco" so I am assuming its a GM vehicle?
If so, you will want to Google " speaker wire color for (make/model/year)"

When you first got the new speakers, did you not compare them with the original one's ? If you saw a size difference, best thing would of been to change the speakers with other that would match the size of original.

Front speakers cutting in and out after 20 min of playing

sounds like the amp may be interfering with the output on the CD player. make sure you have a good ground on all the stereo components to prevent feedback.

I am trying to replace all the factory speakers in my 2003 mountaineer i think there is a sub i want to run all the aftermarket speakers to an aftermarket amp if there is a sub can i also run it to a amp...

no problem with replacing all speakers with ones that are compatable wth you new amp .. and that means the the speaker impedance has to be wtihin the range of what the amp can drive (like 4 ohm, 8 ohm, 16 ohm) .... the subwoofer needs inputs from both left and right channels .. it also needs its own amplifier and low pass filter .. this all may be built into your after market amplifier .. if so you will have an output marked sub (that will directly drive the subwoofer) .. or you may have a low level outdput marked sub that goes to your subwoofer amplifier if it has one .. .. sometimes the woofer has its own built in amplifier and filter .. it then just needs power and inputs from each channel .. since you are running 500 watt speakers, they likely already have a subwoofer component .. (speakers that extend down to 20 hz or lower .) if so, you may not need an additional sub-woofer .. just make sure all the speakers are phased correctly .. (wired to work together not fighting each other ..) .... an amplifier capable of driving 500 watt speakers can draw peak currents that are very high .. so power wiring would have to be very heavy and preferably go directly to the battery with an inline fuse right at the battery ..

I just replaced my blown sub in my Avalon xls with a Kicker 07C84 and it works great. For the same price of a repair kit, you can just buy this new speaker. Why go through the hassle of repairing a 9 year old speaker. This speaker fits into the same cutout of the old speaker. All I did was splice the red and black wires within the factory plastic housing so I could still use the factory connector.

1999 explorer stock subwoofer

I would be very proud of that truck as the sub that came with the truck was only a 8". The only one that works is the factory model as it is a 1 1/2 - 2 ohm speaker; replacements are 4ohm. You will have to replace the amp as well if you put in an aftermarket sub. Oh and apparently the amp will have to have "speaker level" inputs as opposed to pre-amp inputs. I have a 1999 Eddie Bauer wih a blown sub and I'm trying to decide what to do as well. The speaker is $400 with tax in Canada! Good luck.

Radio wiring

yes, you'll need to purchase a "line level converter" to change the speaker connections to RCA connections. Or buy an amp that accepts speaker level inputs and extend the wires to the amp. If you have Bose system (says "Bose" on speakers), this will be different since you already have a factory amp
