Cooling fans only come on when air-condition is on so engine runs hot if I don't put on the air-conditioning

When foot brake padel it does not work it stop but run 5 feet.

Look into the engine coolant temperature sensor or pcm/ Either the sensor is bad and not transmitting the signal to the pcm, or the pcm is not receiving the signal because that component in the pcm (computer) is bad. Use an ohm meter and disconnect the wiring harness (should have two wires) and check resistance across the terminals, as the engine warms, resistance should decrease.

Look under the dash near the battery and you will find the fuse and relay center. Try swapping the fan relay with the AC. If that doesn't work then you will need a new fan switch. Your car should have two Temp sensors. One that does the gauge if your car came with a guage, and another that handles the fans. You'll have to go to a parts store to get the one for the fans, it will be either on the front of the engine or on the radiator. And you will have to drain the cooling system to change it. Slim chance its on top of the engine.

The fan wont work car does not get hot shut off


cooling fan works on a temp sensor in the engine block. it only turns on when the temp reaches a set limit and shuts off when it gets below a set limit.. cooling fan components are , fans, fan relay , and temp sensor . best way to test the fans would be to let the car set running and watch the temp till it goes up to 185 -195 deg. at this time the fans should turn on and the thermostat should open and cool the engine back down. also when ever the air conditioning is on so should the cooling fans be on. if the fans do not run the check all components till you find the broken one. fan relay and air conditioning relay are separate but work the same. and will interchange

Fan will not turn off


which fan? Interior fan, or radiator cooling fan? Is it the radiator cooling fan, or the fan controlled by the air-conditioning?

Run the vehicle, turn on and off the air-conditioning to identify which of the fans in the engine bay is the one triggered by the air-con and which is the primary cooling fan.
If the primary cooling fan is permanently engaged, then first try replacing it's relay as it may have fused closed.

My car said "engine hot


Full coolant level does not mean your engine cannot overheat. You need to fix the problem as overheating will destroy the engine if not addressed.

The radiator cooling fans must be working, as must the water pump. The thermostat must also be working properly.
There must also be no air in the cooling system as air locks will impair water flow. When cooling systems are drained fully or partially and re-filled air in the system must be bled out using the correct bleeding procedure for the particular engine/cooling system. Failure to do this properly will lead to overheating.

If you ONLY see the overheating warning when running your aircon you need to check that the electric radaitor fans are kicking in at idle when you switch on and run the aircon and the engine has been warmed up some. If they do not start operating when the a/c is running you will get an overheating condition in normal driving conditions.

If the radiator fans are operating normally and you still get an overheating warning when the aircon is on or off the most likely culprit is a faulty thermostat in the engine's cooling system which will need to be replaced.

If you have either a faulty thermostat or if the water pump in the cooling system fails you will get continuous overheating whether the aircon is on or off.

Why does the car start to over haet when i have the air conditioning on, once i turn off the ac the temperature goes back to normal

Let me explain in layman's terms how the air conditioning (AC) system works and what could be happening to your car.

Like your body, the air conditioning compressor is the heart of the AC system, and Freon is the blood. The compressor pumps Freon throughout the AC system, either the older type R12 which costs as much as gold it seems these days, or the new environmentally-friendly R134A Freon. This Freon is a gas and liquid combination that is compressed and circulated throughout the air conditioning system. The compressed Freon is pushed through the system under pressure and is passed through different sized metal and rubber hoses and a special valve called an expansion valve that cause the gas to expand and contract.

This expansion and contraction makes the Freon gas very cold. This cold gas makes its way via metal lines into the dash area of your vehicle to the evaporator core. This evaporator core is like a small radiator, except it has cold Freon circulating inside and not hot antifreeze. A small fan (the AC blower fan which you control from the control panel on the dash) sits in front of the evaporator core and blows air across this cold evaporator and then through the vents inside your vehicle.

The other objective of the air conditioning system is to remove the heat from inside the cab of the vehicle. This heat is removed by the Freon with the help of the AC condenser located at the front of the car (usually in front of the radiator). The Freon coming back from the evaporator carries the heat from the cab to the condenser via rubber and metal hoses. Just like your radiator, the condenser is lightweight aluminum with many internal winding coils.
The Freon travels through these coils, and in between these coils are small slits or fins that the Freon is forced through. The condenser will have an electric cooling fan mounted in front or behind it to push or pull air through these fins to remove the heat from the Freon. Some vehicles still use the old fashioned fan blade driven by the engine to pull air across the radiator and the condenser.
Now I know that is just a tidbit of information on how the air conditioning system works, and it is very general, but I wanted you to know what to look for to give you insight as to what might be happening with your vehicle.
A few causes of low cooling efficiency or no cooling at all at idle are:

Lack of air flow across the condenser. Make sure the electric cooling fan motor near the condenser is coming on, or in models that are equipped with a fan blade make sure this fan is turning and is turning very fast.

Low Freon levels. Freon level and pressure should be checked by your certified air conditioning mechanic.

Overheating. If the engine is running hot or overheating, it can have a noticeable negative affect on the air conditioning system. Some cars have two electric cooling fans, one for the air conditioning condenser and the other for the radiator. Make sure they are both working properly. Usually at idle on a hot day with the AC on both fans will be on.

When the vehicle is traveling at freeway speeds, the compressor is pumping the Freon throughout the system much faster and harder than at idle. There is a dramatic increase in air flow across the condenser due to 55 mph winds, and the engine is usually operating at a cooler, more efficient temperature as well, thus allowing the air conditioning system to operate efficiently.
Note: An air conditioning system that is somewhat low on Freon can still feel comfortable at freeway speeds due to the added air flow across the condenser which can overcome the ill effects of slightly low Freon. Periodic air conditioning performance checks by your mechanic are the best way to keep the system in great shape.

I have a 2003 VW Jetta 1.8t that is overheating. Replaced the thermostat, temp sensor, water pump. Fan will run when AC is on, but haven't had it running in hot enough weather to see if the cooling fan...


Assuming engine tune / mechanical condition is not the cause of the overheating:-
Ensure cooling fan is cutting in at the appropriate engine temperature - check operation of the fan controlling relay,
Ensure fan switching control temperature sensor is serviceable,
Ensure cooling system is filled properly, taking care to bleed out air where necessary,
Ensure coolant pressure cap is of correct rating and in serviceable condition,
Check coolant hose on suction side of waterpump is not softened and collapsing at engine revs above idle,
Ensure radiator core is not blocked or cooling airflow inhibited by insects etc.

Look at your fan. You either have a weak fan clutch or if its electric you have an electrical fan problem. You need to see if the fan is running strong when it overheats. I am assuming you have checked your coolant.

Hi

The first thing to check is that the engine cooling fan comes on when you turn on the air conditioning, then you should check the condition of the radiator fins. If they are clogged with debris (dead insects, leaves, etc...) then you will need to get a pressure washer onto it through the front grill and try to blast it clear.

When you switch on the aircon, it puts extra stress on the engine, which causes the fuel economy and engine power to drop, and as a result the engine will naturally run hotter, so it needs a bit of help to cool down in the form of the engine cooling fan.

this not really a problem as the fan speed is controlled by the high preasure switch in the ac system the hotter it is outside the higher the preassure will be in the system as hot as its been the preasure is high already when the compressor cycles it pulls suction on one side and outputs high preasure on the other the fans cool the condenser the higher the ambient temp the faster they go so all is fine...
