1999 2.3 supercharged mazda millenia s; need user/repair manual and help fixing/replacing water pump

Hello, Here are the steps for removing and reinstalling your water pump.
Removal
  1. Disconnect the positive battery cable.
  2. Put a drain pan under the radiator and drain the coolant. Drain the coolant out via the drain plug on the radiator.
  3. When drained close the drain plug.
  4. Put another drain pan under the timing belt cover.
  5. Now you need to remove the timing belt cover.
  6. Use a ratchet and remove all the bolts to the time belt cover.
  7. Remove timing belt cover.
  8. When you get the cover off remove the timing belt.
  9. ***NOTE*** due to the time, labor and potential cost of replacing the water pump and the fact that the timing belt is right there it is recommend to put a new timing belt on during the installation process.
  10. Remove the bolts that secure the coolant inlet pipe with a ratchet.
  11. Remove the pipe and gasket.
  12. Remove the belt and idler pulley attached to the water pump. Don't get and coolant or grease on it.
  13. Now you need to remove the mounting bolts from the water pump with a ratchet.
  14. Remove the pump.
  15. Inspect the seating of the gasket real well.
  16. Remove all the crud off it with a lint free rag, I repeat lint free rag.
Now to install the new water pump
  1. Install the new water pump with the new gaskets provided. Never reuse the old gaskets.
  2. Install mounting bolts and torque them at 14-18 foot pounds.
  3. There is a bolt that will connect the alternator bracket to the water pump that needs to be torqued at 23-38 foot-pounds.
  4. Reinstall the idler pulleys and tighten down with your ratchet.
  5. Replace the gasket for the coolant intake pipe with the new gasket.
  6. Now torque the remaining bolts to 14-18 foot pounds.
  7. Slide the [hopefully new] timing belt back.
  8. Reattach the timing covers.
  9. Tighten them bolts with your ratchet.
  10. Use a mix of 50% water and 50% antifreeze and fill up the radiator and overfill.
  11. Squeeze the radiator hoses a few times to get the air out of the hoses.
  12. Hook your battery back up.
  13. Start the car and let it heat up to full running temperature, with the heat on and check for leaks.
  14. Now top off the coolant level again.
  15. Go for a short drive.
  16. Reinspect for leak.
  17. End of job.
Regards, Tony

Where is the water pump located on a 1996 olds aurua the car is over heating

Hi, i would check the thermostat first unless the water pump is leaking as the water pump is where the timing belt is is the timing belt needs removing to get to the pump, take the thermostat out and place it in a tub of boiling water and check if it opens up if it dont then it will need replacing.

you need to bare in mind that it could also be head gasket failure so make sure you get this tested if the thermostat is found to be in working order.

let me know if you need further assistance ok

Hey the water pump just went in my 1998 toyota rav4 2litre. how do i go about replacing it ? i cant find anywhere on here

Your water pump is driven by your timing belt, can not be seen with out remove timing belt cover, to replace you will also have to remove timing belt, if timing belt has not been replace best to replace it now also, timing belt should be replace every 60,000 miles. make sure before removing timing belt that you mark where all pulley gear's are at, so when you install the timing belt back on there in the same place as before you move the timing belt, no need to mark water pump gear, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

2004 chrysler 300m 3.5L waterpump location and does it run off the timing belt/chain

Yes the water pump does run of the timing belt system.
Directly from the service manual:

The 3.5L water pump has a die cast aluminum
housing and a plastic swept vane impeller. It bolts
directly to the right rear timing belt cover using an
O-ring for sealing. The water pump is
driven by the engine timing belt.

REMOVAL
The water pump on all models can be replaced
without discharging the air conditioning system.
WARNING: DO NOT REMOVE PRESSURE CAP
WITH THE SYSTEM HOT AND UNDER PRESSURE
BECAUSE SERIOUS BURNS FROM COOLANT CAN
OCCUR.

NOTE: It is normal for the water pump to weep a
small amount of coolant from the weep hole (black
stain on water pump body). Do not replace the
water pump if this condition exists. Replace the
water pump if a heavy deposit or a steady flow of
engine coolant is evident on water pump body from
the weep hole (shaft seal failure). Be sure to perform
a thorough analysis before replacing water
pump.

(1) Drain cooling system (Refer to 7 - COOLING -
STANDARD PROCEDURE).

(2) Remove accessory drive belts (Refer to 7 -
COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS -
REMOVAL).

NOTE: The water pump is driven by the timing belt.

(3) Remove engine timing belt (Refer to 9 -
ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT AND
SPROCKETS - REMOVAL).

(4) Remove water pump mounting bolts (Fig. 31).
Note position of longer bolt for proper re-installation.

(5) Remove water pump body from engine

91 carolla water pump

No. You don't have to remove the timing belt to change the water pump. Check out the autozone.com website and register. It doesn't cost anything and you will have access to a repair manual for the vehicle. The steps for replacing the water pump can be found there. ( I checked) Hope this helps and best wishes.

I need instructions on replacing the timing belt

1. Remove the Alternator Belt.
2. Remove the Water Pump Pulley
3. Remove the Air Conditioner Belt and Power Steering Belt.
4. Remove the Crankshaft Pulley.
5. Remove the timing belt cover
6. Remove the timing belt tensioner pulley.
7. Remove the Timing Belt.
8. (If Replacing) Remove Idler Pulley.
Installation is reverse of removal. Keep a close eye on the timing marks on the cam sprockets to make sure you don't knock anything out of whack.

I would strongly recommend replacing the water pump while you are replacing the timing belt. (The water pump usually comes in the timing belt kit.) Otherwise you are going to have to do this all over again when your water pump goes out. Good Luck.
