SOURCE: front brake pads 2005 Skoda Octavia 1.9td

I have no idea what a skoda octavia is, but I know brakes are brakes. You have 2 bolts holding the pads in a slide, the bolts have threads only at the top, the rest is the slide, pull those bolts, if that doesn't release the slide, take out the 2 bolts holding the caliper on there, pull the slide out the other way. replace the pads, make sure they go back in the way came out. Put the bolts back on, tighten them up, you should be all set. The pad thickness sensor is just a ground, when the wire hits metal, it turns on a light, It should go off when it is not touching anything. You should have squealers on there too, they give an audible screech telling you it is time for some new pads. Hope this helps.

Skoda octavia

You haven't given much detail about the car but long crank is normally associated with flooding. Dying out as well may occur due tyo too much fuel. CHECK FOR THAT.

nice car a skoda ,2004 so its common rail and whats happening is a valve in the pump on the common rail injector where it draws the fuel up is defective and its allowing the fuel to run back to the tank ,quick solution is is to fit a non return valve in the in side and one on the return that will cure your problem and its cheaper than having the high pressure injector pump overhauled
