Question about 1995 Buick Regal

Suburban overheating and losing transmission fluid? Please help..

I have a suburban that all of a sudden overheated after driving a couple miles. I pulled over and noticed a red/brownish fluid dripping quickly from under the engine around where the oil pan is. The engine oil is fine, but the radiator was half empty with the same red/brownish fluid in it. When I filled the radiator with water it started dripping even faster from under the car.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong or how expensive it could be to fix? It is a '99 Suburban. Thanks!

I have a 2003 Chevrolet suburban when I start it up the transmission shifts smoothly but once I drive about 50 miles or more the tranny starts to slip please help

If the vehicle has more than 90,000 miles on it the transmission should be rebuilt. Chevy used the 4l60E transmission in Suburbans and it is not quite strong enough.A good rebuild will change all clutchs and plates along with the sun gear and cage. Also all electronic modules.I had mine rebuilt at 125,000 and afterwards pu an additional 200,000 on it without any slippage.

2002 Chevy suburban after driving for couple hours it losses power and I have to stop wait 20 minutes and then it goes again...what's the issue

The engine is overheating, check the anti-freeze level when cold, refill and repair the leaks. Check belts that drive the water pump.

88 suburban suddenly won't shift into drive, other gears are fine

As dependable as all the old suburbans must be, they can't defy GM's planned obsolescence schemes forever. I was trying to help a friend keep his '78 suburban's lighting going. It ran great, but looked like half the stuff under the dash had been broken at one time, and patched back together. The wiring was a real colorful mess.
All you can do with the automatics is check the level and condition of the fluid. Never let it run low for long, or it will burn out. If the fluid looks burnt or dark brown, it's probably bad. You would want to have a shop or transmission shop verify or diagnose it to be sure, because rebuilding yours is a huge expense, just as a rebuilt one you could find would be expensive. A used one? You are always taking chances with a used transmission- it's real iffy. Lots cheaper, if you want to roll the dice, lol. Its your call. How fond are you of your suburban? .

I just replaced the trans in my 99 durango for the second time in a week it drove great for the first 50 miles then it loses all the gears fluid smells burnt New fluid filter cooler and lines ...

Could it be possible the coolant lines are reversed not allowing the trans fluid to reach the cooler? The pressure line from the trans pump can easily be identified by taking it loose and directing the fluid into a container.

My 1996 GMC Suburban has 170600 miles on it. In the last week, it drives fine until you travel about 1/4 mile & reach 30 mph. Then, you loose acceleration. When you push the gas, the engine just revs....

Try dropping the tranny fluid and changing the tranny filter and filling with fresh fluid. Sounds like the tranny is sleeping between shifts.

2003 suburban overheating when aprox stop in trafic for 10 minute

how hot does the temperature get? if it's just above the usual this could just be a different thermostat that the one you had before. If it is getting too hot, especially at idle, I would recommend checking the fan clutch (for mechanical fan) or the electrical fan operation, if the electrical fan doesnt come on, check fuses.

I own a 2008 Chevrolet Suburban. Its coming up on 30,000 miles. What service should I get to maintain this vehicle properly. The dealership wants to power flush the transmission, do a rear differential...

I agree with the transmission fluid change. The differentials don't need anything unless they are leaking. You can do all this at home for less than 100 dollars including the other stuff they recommended.
