Please have a look on the following items:
- Radiator fuse, relay, relay 2 and relay 3. They are located in the engine compartment.
- Radiator fan switch. It is located on cylinder head on the water splitter near the thermostat.
- Harness wiring for broken wire, loose, contaminate or corroded connectors.

I have a Bmw C318 and when I am stuck in traffic jam my radiator fan is not running enough to cool the engine and i changed the thermostat and the radiator fan new but remained the same. And when i start...

Check the temp. sensor with a digital voltmeter.never use a test light on a comuterized car.should read same voltage on both terminals when fan energized. Highly suspect coolant temp. sensor @ radiator.

Where is the thermostat located on a 1992 topaz

On the top drivers side of the engine where the upper radiator hose connects. Follow the radiator hose from the radiator to the motor (upper hose) this should bring you to the corner of head below the valve cover. the hose will be connected to the water outlet housing , this will have to be removed in order to expose the thermostat The thermostat is in the same assembly that the Fan sensor screws into and is removed by taking out 2 bolts.

The fan gets it's signal from the engine temp sensor, located near the
thermostat housing. There are also 2 relays for the fan hi + lo located
on the fan shroud(2.7 eng.) and for the 3.5 eng. in the fuse/relay block
near the radiator expansion tank. Hope this helps.

The radiator cooling fan does not switch on when it gets hot. Fan does work when connected directly to a power source.

this will be the sensor switch, normally located on or around the radiator and sounds like it needs replacing..do you get heat in the car?if not then this is a sign that the thermostat is not opening which in turn will stop the fans from coming on, also there could be a sensor switch on the engine for the fans as well, but it sounds more likely to be the one on the radiator..hope that helps

Auxiallry fans on radiator dont seem to come on. how do they work

Hi, They are controled by a thermo-fan switch, when coolant reaches a certain temperture fan switch turns on radiator fans and brings temperture back down. Thermo-Fan switch is located bottom of radiator.
