Check the brake light switch on the brake pedal. It may be out of adjustment or just faulty.

Where is the trailer light reset button?

probably doesn't have one
trailer lights are just an extension of the vehicle lights so what ever lights on the trailer are not working will not be working on the vehicle if a fuse is blown
if the vehicle lights all work then it will be a faulty wire connection in a plug
Most trailer light problems can be found in the trailer plug connections or bulb connections in the trailer

I just bought a horse trailer and when I hook it up to my 2006 Silverado, the lights don't work. My trailer hitch and wiring system are new, and the previous trailer owner tested the lighting of

Some people wire trailer plugs differently. If the plug is not wired differently than yours, make sure the tow ball is clean. No rust. That's where the trailer gets its ground from. Usually they will work if thats the case, but not right. I can't remember what the wire colors are right now. Go to etrailer and look up the diagram.

I tried to connect a utility trailer but the lights wont work

most trailers don't have fuses, but rely on the car fuses, and if the car lights go on, that can't be it.
You need a test light.
Check if the current is getting to the trailer connection, then check at the trailer bulbs.
But the ground connection is the most likely if none work.
The trailer itself is the ground for the lights, but you need a brown wire from the trailer frame to car frame/ground.

try http://www.etrailer.com/faq-wiring.aspx. This should help. Make sure the lights and trailer are grounded. Especially with a tilt trailer. The tilt pins carry the ground. Run a ground strap from the frame to the bed.

Then the problem is either with your trailer plug in, or the plug in on the truck. Use a test light to figure out which it is.

Trailer lights stop working when tow vehicle lights are turned on

Pull all of the bulbs and try it using a tester to each light. I have seen a bulb that would contact both posts and kill the lights. Hope this helps. Mike
