Has filter & oil been changed since? I'd advise a trip to transmission shop, or dealer for scan. It may be money well spent , as I'm sure you remember last bill on rebuild. At least see what they have to say, & go from there. May be something relatively inexpensive, or as simple as a fluid & filter change, which I would do anyway, just to take a shot at it, before going to shop with it.

Well if it's been well maintained, they you may be lucky, but rather than taking a chance at doing big damage, have it diagnosed properly and if you don't like what you hear, get a second opinion. Try disconnecting battery for a minute or 2 and see if that helps at all. It should erase codes & start fresh, but if same happens, get it in & checked.

A bad transmission. Several things would cause this in a newer one. Yours is just old ad tired....rebuild or replace.

I have a 2000 Ford Explorer standard...when it gets cold outside it will not shift into any gear...if I let the truck warm up its fine ...I have had no problems all summer long but last winter did the same...

Dirty fluid, clogged trans filter, Torque converter dirty. Shift solenoid sticking.

Taking the trans pan off and working on the filter and refilling the system would likely help.

It's 12 degrees outside, how long should i leave the engine of my 2007 ford focus running to warm up?

Wait for the temp gauge to lift off of the low end stop. The car is then warm enough to drive. Be very gentle on the trans for the first 20 miles or so, because the transmission relies on engine heat to warm up the trans fluid. Cold trans fluid is very dense and can cause the transmission to slip, causing gear damage.

Transmission acts like its in neutral in every gear checked linkage and transfrcase they are fine

The trans is electronic I suggest having a diagnostic run for the trans. This is only about $50 or so and is well worth it. Saves a lot of trouble shooting time.

Trans. problem

3speed or 4 speed? does it slip or just not shift. Might be old seals or a bad governor. Try using lubegard trans additive. Try that for a week if it doesn't work, replace the governor valve.
