Ok take the remote push the the key release on the top remove the valet key or door key then hold it firmly in your hand and with one finger push the key release slide all the way over again as if you were removing the key take your other hand and firmly place your thumb on the toyota symbal on the back and push it firmly upward towards the key release the back cover will slide up revealing a small door held on by four very small screws youll need a jewelers or eyeglass philips screwdriver to remove them un do them and out pops the battery its a cr21 just in case you didnt know

You need ether the lock opener so he open the door of the car for you and then you can change the battery or use the emergency key if your car have it.

SOURCE: Keyless Remote 2008 RAV4

You can take it back to the dealer, and have them change the battery, or go to Autozone, buy the battery and do it yourself. They can show you how to do it. And which battery it takes. It's not hard to do. Good luck.

SOURCE: ho do i program a keyless entery remote on 2001

Try this:

key not in ignition.
driver door open-others closed
driver door unlocked

1-insert and remove key from ignition two times

2-close and open driver door two times

3-insert and remove key once from ign.

4-close and open drvr door twice

5-insert key into ign.,then close driver door

6-turn key to on (not start) then off, twice
this is rewrite mode, have all remotes to reprogram
it will clear any lost remotes.

7-remove key from ignition, the door locks should cycle twice.if not start over.it may take a few tries.

8-press lock/unlock together and hold for a second

9-release,and press lock on remote, the door locks will cycle confirming program.continue to do other remotes you have, steps 8 and 9.if only one in possesion, you are done.

to end mode open door or insert key into ig.you can do up to 4 remotes.read this a couple of times to get the sequence down.there are time restraints, but if you go in order it will work.do not wait more than a second b/t each step and you will be ok.i know from experience that you can do this as fast as you can and it will enter mode.if steps out of order or you wait to long it wont.print this and have in lap, read ahead of what you are doing.good luck.

Remote has to be reprogramed. Look in owners for proceedure. If you don't have a manual call the dealer. May have to take vehicle to them to reprogram it with a scantool

How to change battery in keyless entry remote

For a 2008 Prius the "Best Solution" and "#2" are WRONG! If you pry it appart, that does not release the battery, and you have to glue it back together. There is a sliding cover, the piece with the Toyota logo on it. It is released by the same spring loaded locking slider that releases the "valet key". The cover slides in the direction of the bottom of the logo. Then there are four phillips head screws (jeweler screwdriver size) that open the battery cover. The battery is type CR2032.

Toyota Prius starting problem

There's a known problem with the early Toyota Prius (2001 - 2003), when running the engine for a long period of time without moving or when the car is driven only for short trips (short city driving), the Prius might not start.

You have to change the original battery with a 356 CCA which is bigger because the battery is bigger you also have to change what is holding it into place.
