Sounds like a fuel problem I would make sure the fuel pump is coming gon when the key is turned to the on position not the start position or hook a fuel gauge to the fuel rail and read the pressure

A late reply; I'm sure you have found the problem by now-
It sounds as if the battery (old and new) are not receiving sufficient charge.
Check the drive belt tension and add a cheap digital multimeter to your 'tools.'
These can be had for well under $20 US and you can then check across the battery terminals to see if the charge voltage is between ~ 13-14.3 volts at an idle.
In no case should it be lower than 13 volts with the engine running since the nominal battery voltage is 12.6 volts when fully charged.
You may have a separate regulator that is ill.

If you can verify that the battery is good then I would say that the starter itself has failed. This clicking you hear is the solenoid on the starter attempting to engage the starter.

have your battery tested for CCA (cold cranking amps) often voltage will be fine but CCA will be too low.

Testimonial: "thank you. I actually took the starter to kragens and they said I have a bad starter solenoid So you were right on the money. Thank you so much!"

Have you checked for 12 volts coming in going out of the the starter solenoid switch that is mounted passenger side fenderwell.
Testimonial: "No but that is logical; thanks! You can start the truck by 'jumping out' that same solenoid."
