Question about 1989 GMC K2500
Bought a non running 89 GMC K2500 5.7L that had a bad fuel pump. Replaced fuel pump, inline filter, rebuilt the TBI,also replaced TBI with rebuilt injectors, replaced battery. Have 12 psi fuel pressure during pump runs but bleeds down when pump is off.Pinched off return fuel line and fuel pressure guage will peg off scale.Injector noid light test flashes. Will temporally run on starting fluid,wd40,etc in throttle bore.
Thinking that the injector supply current is too low to open injectors.
Suspect a bad computer and/or ICM in distributor.Any ideas for further testing?
Have you checked the coolant temp sensor? it controls air-fuel mixture.

It said you rebuilt the TBI but did you replace the Fuel Pressure Regulator? I had the same problem with fuel pressure bleeding off in about 5 seconds. I replaced the regulator and it holds pressure again now.
