The engine shut off

Pulled a plug & it was black & wet. Checked codes with an Actron auto scanner & it showed a fault at the MAF or VAF.a fault at the IAT sensor 1 circuit high input, a fault at the IAT sensor 1 CKT range/performance, a fault at the TPS pedal position sensor A circuit low input, & a fault at the idle control system RPM high, a fault at the engine coolant temp circuit high input, & cylinder 4 misfire detected. This was all done after trying to make the car run.Cleared the codes.Ran the engine at idle.It ran about 2 minutes, shut off,& showed 2 codes which were engine coolant temp circuit high input & cylinder 1 & 3 misfire. can I borrow a match?

    yes it was. Thanks

I had it checked at a garage & their test showed a fault of the air intake temperature is higher than the engine coolant temparture by 104 F.

THERE IS NO WAY ALL THESE SENSORS ARE DEFECTIVE, YOU HAVE A PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE FUEL INJECTION WIRING HARNESS, LOOK FOR WIRING DAMAGE WHERE THE HARNESS TOUCHES THE BLOCK INTAKE OR CYLINDER HEADS.

I have a '11 Toyota Camry LE, the VSC, and engine light are on. I have these codes from the local auto parts shop: C1201, P0171, and P0101.

code p 101 refers to mass air flow(MAF)sensor/volume air flow(VAF) sensor --range performance problem====causes --intake leak/blockage---MAF/VAF sensor

code p 0171 refers to system to lean bank 1===causes ---intake /exhaust leak---AIR system---MAF/VAF sensor ---fuel pressure/pump---injector/s---HO2S ( heated oxygen sensor --the one in the exhaust manifold before the cat converter bank 1)

I don't have a listing for the c code but from the other 2 codes I would be checking around the maf/vaf sensors and the HO2S sensor (replace)
start with checking the wiring and connections to both units

What is code p0101/p0300/p0171

code p0101 refers to MAF sensor and VAF sensor--range /performance problems===causes --intake leakage/blockage ---MAF/VAF sensor failure.

code p0300 refers to random misfires multiple cylinders ---causes --spark plugs /HT leads --injector /s-- ignition coil/ s--low compression ---wiring

check fuel pressure in manifold and HT leads

code p0171 refers to system too lean bank 1 ===causes --intake /exhaust air leak---AIR system---MAF/VAF sensors ---fuel pressure /pump---injectors ---HO2S sensor

Basically there are two codes referring to the MAF/VAF sensors so check them out and two codes referring to fuel pressure and pump so have a pressure test done on the fuel manifold to determine if pump or pressure regulator.

1998 volvo s70 2.4 glt turbo

code p0102 refers to MAF/VAF sensor ---low input ===causes --wiring short to ground. MAF/VAF sensor
code po172 refers to system too rich --bank 1=== causes ---intake blocked --EVAP canister purge valve---fuel pressure ---HO2S sensor
code po random misfires ---plugs --wiring ---injectors--low compression
code po305 refers to cylinder 5 misfire detected ===causes --engine mechanical fault--ignition/ fuel system ---injector ---ECT/MAF

I would check that the air filter is not blocked first as it affects the MAF/VAF sensors . Have a fuel pressure system pressure test done

What is a MAF or a VAF A censor low impact mean

Try & see if there is a vacuum leak anywhere in the engine. I had a Grand Am GT that wouldn't idle for $#!t. It was the intake manifold gasket that was tripping the Check engine light. Even a relatively small leak can trip the light.

There should be an OBD II plug under  the dash on the drivers side. It might have a cover over it so look real close. That actron will give you generic P codes.
