My engine management light and red iol light is on, is this bad ?

Check your oil level before you drive it and destroy your engine. If the oil light is flashing, its telling you that the oil level is too low.

Oil light flashing

oil light means loss of oil pressure.. not good ..check oil level fill to full if low..low oil pressure will cause fuel pump to be shut off..

2000 ford taurus oil lite

Check oil level if ok check oil sending unit. It should be close to oil filter they are inexpensive to replace. if lite continues to flash you have low oil pressure.and will probably need a new oil pump or main and or rod bearings this usually happens arround 150,000 miles and up if this is helpful please leave me good feedback

Oil light flashing on dash

check for proper oil level in engine with dipstick if ok.then install mechanical oil pressure gauge on oil pressure sending unit to verify proper oil pressure, if pressure ok. then replace the sending unit/sensor, if pressure not ok. , you may need to remove engine oil pan to check for restriction on oil pick-up tube screen. if ok replace pump. but also check clearance on mains and connecting rods.

What does it mean when a red oil light is flashing

Have you checked the engine oil dipstick to ensure that the oil level is correct? A very low oil level will cause light to come on. Top up oil if necessary. If oil level is OK, then it is possible that the warning light pressure switch which is screwed into the engine oil pressure system is faulty and setting off light and needs replacing. There could even be oil leaking out of the switch. The switch is usually located near the oil filter and will have a wire connected to it.
If after replacing switch and light still comes on, check to make sure wire is not making contact with the engine because of cracked insulation or it could also mean badly worn engine bearings. It is unlikely to be the oil pump as these hardly ever fail.

Oil engine is flashing 5 times after starting the engine

change the sensor...however, I bet you are using very thin oil or you oil pump is going bad.  Have the oil pressure tested.
