Question about 2003 Mini Cooper

Clutch went down to floor would not return

I could pull it back up but there was no resistance. This happened when I started it and went to back up. Clutch went to floor and car killed. Could not get it into gear. Messed around with it, restarted and it seemed fine. Was able to drive home no trouble shifting. This is the first time this has ever happened. It is a 2004 mini cooper with 62,000 miles and just due to go in for it's major inspection. Thanks, Sabrestone

Your clutch master cylinder "seal" is worn-out.
It make your brake system can't build up pressure to brake fluid.
Easily just fix it with repair kit or change whole new complete set.

Clutch pedal of my Sorento 2012 has become very stiff. It is specially very hard to drive in the traffic. Odo meter reading show 560000 km run as of today. what is the problem?

Get your head down on the driver's side floor and look at the clutch cable coming out of the firewall. Push the clutch pedal in and see where the resistance starts and where you start seeing the cable pulled. If it's more than a couple inches before the cable starts pulling, you need to adjust it.

I hauled a trailer about 40 miles and when I went to leave the clutch pedal went to the floor no resistance and wouldn't disengage clutch master cylinder has fluid throwout bearing has been making noi

It sounds like the throw out bearing separated. You will want to change the clutch and pressure plate when you replace the throw out bearing.

Clutch will not engage when it was engaging perfectly to begin with.

Your car has a hydraulic clutch release system, it is defective, either the master or slave cylinder is leaking or pulling in air and this causes the clutch pedal to go to the floor.

Your clutch has failed. Big job...transmission needs to be removed. The over-reving you felt was the friction material on the clutch disc not gripping the flywheel.

Clutch went to floor like nuthing was attached to it... runs fine just seems that the clutch pedal dont work or something it just floppy now...it happened when i was moving it in driveway was fine before...

There is a return spring that lifts the clutch pedal back to the original position. It seems that the clutch return spring has got disconnected. The pedal will do its job of disengaging the engine from the gear box, but will not offer any resistance to the foot and thus give an impression of doing nothing. So, that spring should be set right. For this the clutch housing will have to be opened and the spring reset.

When I was at a stop light, I went to put it in first gear when the light turned green. When I did, the clutch pedal just went straight to the floor, and stayed there. It doesn't seem to be the clutch...

The thrust bearing could have collapsed or the Fingers on the clutch plate have gone.

If when you press down on the clutch the cable moves the arm on the clutch housing then it is either of the above

believe it or not, the floormat on my 2000 Sunfire will sometimes slip forward and hold the clutch pedal down against the floor. It truly feels like a mechanical problem, but simply pull the floormat away and the pedal pops right back up!
