THE PURPLE WIRE GOES TO THE "S" TERMINAL AND THE REST GO TO THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE TERMINAL WHICH IS THE VERY LARGE POST ON THE STARTER, THE REST WITH SMALL EYELETS GO TO THE "I" TERMINAL IF THERE IS ONE.

Where do I find vin number on a 1978 corvette?

For all 1978 Corvettes, the location of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is stamped on a plate attached to the left front body hinge pillar.

I have a1998 corvette with a 5.7 litter I changed the battery and now the car won't turn over

Are you certain all the wires are hooked up to the battery and the starter? A 5.7l vortec? I think you have to put a vortec motor in it as the year is too new. Double check your wires to the starter.

1978 corvette battery hooked up backwards now wont start at all

You didn't list any details of what you tested, found, or replaced, if any. The first place that I would start is at the battery and the starter. Look for a blown in-line fuse or fuseable links. These earlier made cars were pretty simple but they were still using some polarized transistor circuits. While you are inside the fuse box (checking for blown fuses), please check for damaged diodes. I don't think your car has any but just in case. If you don't know what they are. Diodes look like a blade fuse but are black and have an arrow on the top of it. If you write back please clarify your description. I don't know if you mean to say that your car will start and run if you by-pass the ignition system. Sending voltage the wrong way can damage so many parts. It can fry the alternator, the ignition control module, wiring, in-line fuses, fuses, diodes, and the radio. This repair will take some time. Please let me know if I can answer anymore questions. Please be as specific and detailed as you can, Good luck.

2005 Corvette stored in garage with no battery tender hooked up, now battery is dead. How do i gain access in the car to release the hood to hook up a charger?

Usually you can energize the electrical system by making a mini set of jumper cables using a lamp cord and alligator clips. attach one end to a battery and attach the ground to the starter housing or any metal bracket, the positive lead to the main terminal on the starter. (don't mix up the lead ends...mark them so you can identify them.) Do not try to start the car with this attached. light wire won't handle the amperage.
