Question about 1996 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Car stalling and will turn over but not restart right away

My 1996 Buick LeSabre will stall (while driving and sitting idle). Sometimes it will restart immediately, other times it takes anywhere from 5-30 minutes for it to start. It turns over, no matter what, it just won't start all the time. If I go somewhere, turn off the car, and try to leave anywhere before an hour or so passes, it will not start. The fuel pump was replaced, but we are not sure what the problem is.

Usually when a computer controlled vehicle stalls while driving it's related to the Crank Position Sensor.

Car dying when letting off gas

Sounds like it's your IAC (idel air control sensor).  The IAC is a computer-controlled air bypass valve located in the throttle body. It helps control idle speeds by allowing air to bypass the throttle plates as to increase the idle speed.  If the IAC isn't working properly the car will stall when you are not pressing the gas pedal.  It is located on your throttle body and is relatively cheap and a simple change since it is normally held in my two screws.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for an honest ranking and for using FixYa!

My 1995 buick lesabre stalls while driving and will restart

first thing you should try is the fuel filter. If that doesn't get it, it could be your idle air control valve, idle contol system, or vacuum leaks at the intake manifold, or vacuum hoses. It could also be spark plug wires, or plugs. Good luck!
