How do i reset timing on a 1998 blazer vortex 4.3 . i just changed the intake gasket and it run very poorly

Timing should be fixed/set at the factory. There is not an adjustment for it is what I am saying. You may have crossed the spark plug wires when you put them back on, or you may have a sticking injector in the spider harness.

What should fuel pressure be to start blazer


Normal cranking pressure is 70psi. It won't start if pressure is below 60psi.
Engines with multi port injection runs on 35-40 psi. and engines with throttle body injection run on 25 psi.

How do I remove and re install the CPI unit and gaskets on a 1998 Chevy Blazer with Vortec V6


You have to reove the upper plenum. that is the part on top of the intake that looks like a dome on top of the lower intake.There is 8 10mm bolts around the outside of the dome part. the disconnect the fuel lines at back of lower intake and remove the cpi unit.

Chevy blazer will start then dies, wait 15 minutes it starts and runs good


Trail Blazer has a very cool 'plastic' intake on the Vortex series. I would have the intake checked out, or just replace it with a new one. Don't reccomend a used one since it was a common problem.

Motor will not fire is getting spark to plugs but will not start


if hot enough to shut down major damage to piston rings and now cylinders have no compression so wont start you can try to oil them back up .unless when gasket was done timing is off ck it also

Hello - have a 1998 chevy blazer with a p0301 code. Know that cylinder 1 is the problem. New plug on cyl 1, and know it's not the wire. Also put new cap and rotor on. Any suggestions on what to do next?


If your Blazer has a "VORTEX" engine, the the fuel injection system will cause this DTC. Under the intake plenum ( that big plastic cover) is a spider legs injection system. that is one main body and up to eight legs that simply clip into the heads. Over time, crud gets into the passage that the injector goes into and causes the tip(s) to get dirty and the only way to clean it is to remove the system and clean all the tips.

I don' know if this could be your problem or not, but i had a simmiler problem on a 95 blazer i had,first i thought it was the egr valve, so i took it off cleaned it real good both valve and intake, put it back on it helped but it was still there, my friend a cert. michanic said it was in the injection system just a little skip in the engine when you were just crusing down the road at a steady speed like a gust of wind would hit you, at that time my friend witch is a certified michanic at a chevy dealer advised me to trade it off so i did, at that time it would cost me around 800 to 1000 bucks to fix, but i'am sure its a lot cheaper now, as this was 7 or 8 years ago. Thies injection systems were put on the 4.3 vortex engines, if yours is not a vortex i would say its still a problem with the throutle body.

yeah all chevys have a problem with intake leaking. it is about 3 to 4 hour job if you know what your doing.

Try the inside passenger side, below glove box, near heater box. Brown wire with a plug.

Vortex v6 intake gasket ?


HI you could do a oil pressure test whit a gauge or yest replace your oil pressure sending unite if engine is not making tapping sound when pressure reads low it may be a bad pressure switch.now the coolant problem may be bad intake gaskets look at 4 corners of intake for sign of coolant if you see it outside its probably getting inside your lifter valley.Hope this helpsb58809b.gif

if it is a v6 vortex you need 60 psi to run vehicle, could be a bad spider assembly(fuel injector unit)
