The best thing to do is to pull the wheel and check out the brake caliper, brake pads, and rotor. Something could be loose or damaged. Also look at the steering system while the tire is off. Tie rod ends, CV boot, etc. to see if there are any defects. When was the last time the wheel bearings were checked/serviced? That could also be a possibility. Hope this helped. Good luck.

If it sort of whines then a wheel bearing is shot

Question :
If you go around a corner the noise should get less? as there is more lateral strain on the bearings

A very loud rumble would be a drive shaft problem

2008 siverado. Front-end humming. Sounds like extremely loud tire pattern noise coming from left-front wheel area, noise stops when i turn the steering wheel to the right. replaced tire with no results.

it is your wheel bearing. the bearing is a sealed unit so you replace the hub assembly. remove wheel, caliper, brake rotor.if it is 4x4 loosen axle nut. there are three 15mm bolts on back side of spindle remove these and slide hub out replace with new one. most hubs come with new wheel speed sensor so remove harness from connectors or if no new one remove the screw holding it in place to hub and slide out.

Front wheel bearings bad

if it gets louder when you turn left then the right front wheel bearing is bad and vice versa it gets louder when the weight shifts to that wheel

Vibration/Humming/Grinding noises when stopping or turning left.

when turning left vehicle distributes weight to right front wheel bearing causing load. since u describe a noise in right front while driving straight i would suspect failed right front wheel bearing. see if your noise changes/goes away while turning right that should tell u 4 sure

The left front wheel area is shaking violentely and cusing a loud humming noise at all speeds.

First: STOP DRIVING THIS CAR!. The wheel may lock up or fall off!!!!!
Next: Have it checked out by a mechanic.
It can be a number of things like: bad wheel bearing, loose lug nuts, brake system faulty, rotor really warped. If I was to pick one I would say your front wheel bearing is shot.

Loud humming noise from front end of Durango 4 x 4

You have a hub/wheel bearing going out. You need to jack up the vehicle on each side. Grab the top and bottom of the wheel and try to move it in/out at the top and bottom. If this does not work then roll the wheel as fast as you can and see if you can hear which one it is. Good Luck.
