Question about 1998 Ford Explorer

Both of my keys suddenly do not work.

Both keys suddenly do not work. The engine is trying to turn over without the key so I figured it must be the remote starter acting up. Took out the batteries from the remote starter...engine is no longer trying to turn over on it's own but both keys still will not work, won't even turn slightly forward or backwards in the ignition. 1999Ford Explorer eddie bauer.

Are you sure you're using the right set of keys? is it possible that you've accidentally picked up someone else's keys? or are you trying the keys in what is actually someone else's vehicle? (may sound odd but this has happened to quite a few people in the past)

It sounds like the tumbler that the key goesd into has broken, and the componets inside of it have made contact so that it is stuck in the start position. disconnect the wire from the switch in the column and hook the batt. back up if problem still prosists get the starter checked to see if it has malfunctioned

Why suddenly wont my key turn in my ignition?

Try turning the steering wheel a bit and holding it so that it takes pressure off locking mechanism. Then turn key. When I first got my 530 I had to call the dealer to figure this out.
Hopefully it works for you.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE security system wont let car start

first most GM OEM systems will need to recognize the key first and foremost ,to do that you will need to roll window down on driver door, turn the key to the run position and with engine NOT running leave the key on for 10 minutes exactly ..then turn ignition off then try to start engine. if original system is working engine should start normally

2005 Blazer key won't turn in the ignition

You may want to try to slightly push / pull your vehicle to take weight / tension off the transmission, which in turn will allow you to turn the steering wheel enough to see if the ignition switch can be turned.

How do I manually retrieve a trouble code without scan tool for a 1997 Plymouth Voyager

Try this Turn the key on ( don not try to start), turn the key off, turn the key on, turn the key off, turn the key on and leave it on. If the check engine light starts to flash start counting the number of flashes. Those will be the codes. For about $50 you can by a code reader which will give you OBDII codes which may make it easier to figure out the problem. Post the codes and we'll see what we can figure out. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

My 1999 f150 wont start

Go back to your battery connections and make sure they are clean. If you recently replaced terminal ends, pull on the wires and see if it cranks.

Can't get the key out of the ignition.

You probably need to figure out the problem with the shifter. It has to think it's securely in Park before it will release the key. Try shoving forward on the shift lever while it's in Park as you try to remove the key.
