You need to find out where exactly is the leaks coming from, it can leak in many places beside the water pump. Im gonna let you in a little secrets of mine if you don't want to spend big bucks to fix it. Take it to local dodge garage and have them inspect it for 40 bucks instead of guessing and you cant seem to find where the leaks is and wasting paying someone big bucks to fix your car and it may not be the problems. Every dealership has a mechanic that does work on the side for extra money, I would ask around while you at repair shop and find out who does repair work on the side. you can prob can get done for 200-250 for the labor and you pay for the parts. that is half of what someone else is trying to make from you. 700 bucks is a shop rate profits for the dealer and the mechanic. never pay shop rate if it take 30 to 45 minute to install. you can also advertise and look on craig list for mechanic, with this tough economy time, you wont have a problem getting your car work done for nothing. I hope that help some...good luck!

Yes, replace it yourself...if you have a 4 cyl, the pump is about $34.00.....if you have a 6 cyl...it's about $90 and up. If you are interested I can post the replacement procedures.....don't spend $700.00. That's a rip-off.

My coolant is leaking and its a big possibility it might be the water pupm or radiator but i think its just a hole in the container that holds the coolant, is ok if i put water in there constant to keep...

Stop leak is a temporary solution and never a long term fix. You need to locate the source of the leak and replace the faulty part. I also doubt that the coolant overflow reservoir is leaking unless something has been done to the vehicle to damage it.

Using water rather than the correct spec coolant mix as a top up is NOT recommended (even for a short period) because, among other things, the coolant mix provides lubrication for the water pump. Constantly adding water rather than the correct coolant mix dilutes the coolant mix and it becomes ineffective.

Your engine needs an efficient cooling system to survive so have the leak investigated and fixed saspo.
If you allow the engine to overheat you will cause very expensive engine damage and end up with a car you will not be able to drive. It is always cheaper to fix the problem.

That is fairly easy. The worst part is getting the fan off and draining the coolant.Spend $15.00 for a manual at Auto Zone and get step by step instructions and save yourself a hundred bucks.Good Luck!

I have a problem with a coolant leak on my 2000 Chevy Blazer. It's coming from the left side of the engine, about mid to lower engine. I can't see where the leak is coming from due to the leak bouncing off...

you could have a expansion plug on the left side of the engine block leaking antifreeze,if your blazer is a 4x4 remove the skid plate under the front bumper and you should be able to see where its leaking from,a water pump will be a steady drip while its running usually but a expansion plug will pour out very fast

I have a coolant leak to the right of the water pump on a 1991 Chevy Corsica 3.1L engine. Is there a gasket there? It has 2 star bolts holding it down I think.

There is a gasket between the interface of water pump housing and the engine mounting surface. if you have to change the gasket then replace the pump the whole thing cost only 40 bucks for the parts. Try to tighten the mounting bolt to see if it help. However, make sure where the leak is coming from, Sometimes, the leak from not tightened hose clamp causing a leak then it splashes onto some place else when the car moves. Attached here is a picture to show the gasket.a873bd3.jpg

i think you got a head gasket leak,,,if its buring coolant the only thing that will burn it is a leaking head gasket,,its probably leaking into the cylinder and burning it and leaking externally where you see coolant on the tranny,,,replace the head gasket,,,

If there is another dealer nearby get a second opinion. Repairs these days are very expensive.

98 pathfinder water pump

Chances are if you have a coolant leak right under the water pump, especially with engine running, the inner seal in the water pump is shot & the entire water pump will need to be replaced with a reman / new one. For the amount of hassle required to replace the seal it is worth the couple hundred bucks for the new pump.

There would definitely be overheating problems if the pump were not working at all. You will also have overheating problems present if there is low coolant, make sure the rad is topped up, with heater(s) on "Hot" inside & run the engine until it shows warm on the gauge. Make sure all of the belts are tight & pump looks like its spinning.

Antifreeze leak

check the 2 large hoses that come from the radiator, at the radiator and at the engine. if not there then your losing water into your engine, probably means your head gasket is cracked and about to blow

Leaking coolant

i believe this part you are referring to is the intake manifold. it seems to be a big problem with the older ford mustangs. make sure before you spend the big bucks on it that it's not just the water pump gasket.
