VW stuff has a reputation for interchangeability but I can't answer your question. I suspect only a select few who have already done or failed to do the job can answer, alternatively you will need to compare the components and do the required measuring yourself.
I remember the case of a guy who upgraded his Polo with some Golf parts. After a crash (that wasn't his fault) an eagle-eyed insurance assessor spotted the modification and the insurance cover was withdrawn because the owner hadn't informed the company about the mods.
More recently a guy with a new Honda car had not liked the standard wheels and had opted for a Honda upgrade before taking delivery. Again an eagle-eyed insurance person spotted the difference and told the owner he wasn't covered because the insurer hadn't been told of the modification.
Proceed with caution...
SOURCE: PROBLEMS with drive shaft thi is the 3rd time i
I have a 2000 ZQ8 extended cab S-10 and I have had 4 count them 4 brand new front and rear shafts put in this truck and I only have 227000 miles on it. It's not a balance problem or a mid-shaft bearing problem it's a design problem and it comes from your rear shaft. The problem lies between the 4 universal joints that the rear shaft has and that would be a little ball joint. Two of them to be exact one at the front of the rear shaft and one at the rear between the universal joints. It was supposed to solve vibration problems but has a short life span espically if you drive alot of highway miles. The ball rests in a small cradle that's kinda like a knuckle the way it fits together, anyway when the grease spins out of this joint it starts to wear away at this ball joint you can tell when you have removed the shaft if the joint just moves freely its gone bad if it snaps, pops and stays whichever way you move it that means its usually still good but not always it could be getting close or just needs some grease. To keep grease on this joint you need to go and buy a needle fitting for a grease gun because a female grease fitting is in between your u joints which greases your ball joint it's a ***** to get to but once you find it its easy. Keep it greased about every 2 to 3 months and use a high temp grease. This will help it last much longer but unfortunately does not solve the bad design problem. If enough of us S-10 and Somoma owners got together and brought this to GM's attention maybe they would give a recall which they should because I know that everyone that owns one has the very same problem 3 of my friends own some of both and they have the same problems. The problem is that everyone that owns one probably thinks that they bought a dud but they didn't its just something that should be recalled by GM.( By the way as far as I know this is only a problem for all the extended cab S-10 and Sonoma pickups from 98 and up because of the design change of the rear shaft.)
Testimonial: "thanks a lot 4 u advise is very help full let me know what we can do to bring this to GM attencion"
