Check the fuse, ( if you already haven't done so), usually marked instrument cluster, or inst cluster.

The bulb on the check engine light may have failed. Pull out the dash instrument panel and check light condition from the rear.

2004 gmc safari cant get tail lights or dash lights to come on when it gets dark out

you may have a couple of blown fuses. dash lights are usually fused separetly to other vehicle lights. you might also want to check your dimmer switch on your left hand dash, it will make them go out if turned down. if the lights have auto memory, check to make sure it's set correctly. hope this helps.

Brake light not working could this be fuse?

If its just one, it would be the bulb. If both are out, yes you have a blown fuse. Look for fuse block under dash of drivers side for brake, signal, dash lights ect. You will see a broken spot on the element on top, like a burned spot.

Is the headlight switch turned all the way to illuminate the dashboard lights? If it is, check the fuse for instrument panel, also marked as instrument cluster.
