Sounds as if you got the wrong relay. Parts stores often make this error--you must have the correct part. Try a different parts store, or buy from (ugh) dealer.

SOURCE: 1999 oldsmobile silhouette van won't start. no power to fuel pump

I have a silhouette and it had the same problem
Follow the fuel pump wiring harness to where it plugs into the floor of the van--pull the connectors apart--they will probably be corroded, and you will possibly have to change both wiring harnesses or connectors.

Dodge ram 1500 fuel delivery

I changed a pump several years ago and learned after new unit did not operate that some aftermarket fuel pumps had to have the wires crossed to the opposite connections as the aftermarket unit was designed to fit various models. Check internet for reference.

Replaced fuel pump truck ran fine then sendingunit quit working . i was checking fuses by pulling them one at a time now fuel pump will not work checked to see if it had power to pump .could not get power

The oil pressure send ing unit is a back up power supply for the fuel pump moter its a safty thing. Check fuse # 9 When the fuel pump is replaced the wires need to be cut and spliced because they had a problem with the wires giing to the pump over heating so the new pump has a differant connector the old one will not fit into it check the 4 wire connection splice I dought its the relay thats in the glove box thats what the back up is all about through the oil pressure unit the vehicle would still get power to the fuel pump even if the relay was bad I have a wireing schematic of a 2000 if you want it give my an Email address and i will send it to you pier-j

PGM-FI main relay 1 (FI MAIN) is energized whenever the ignition switch is ON (II) to supply battery voltage to the ECM/PCM, power to the injectors, and power for PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP). PGM-FI main relay 2 (FUEL PUMP) is energized to supply power to the fuel pump for 2 seconds when the ignition switch is turned ON (II), and when the engine is cranking or running.

1990 Deville, new fuel pump, new ICM, 40 psi on fuel rail, got spark, start the car and it runs fine for short time then dies. I have found out that something kills power to the injectors. Shut the hood,...

Replace the fuel Pump relay in the Power distribution box under the hood. Also, start checking the wiring harness back to the fuel pump for shorts. Most likely this is the relay cutting out every time it is pumped or jiggled but it is possible, however slight, that the problem is a short.

Most modern cars are fitted with an immobiliser which could cut the power to the fuel pump relay among other stuff.

The immobiliser should arm when the ignition key is removed and disarm when the key is inserted and switched on. The key has a coded transponder chip inside about the size of a grain of rice and the on-car system needs to recognise the code.

Vehicle handbook should give you more details.

97 gmc pickup, 5.7 eng, fuel pump not operating,

What you need to do is check you fuel pressure. Go to a local auto parts store and buy a fuel injection pressure tester. The pressure fitting is on the top of the motor its a 3/8 ish sized metal line and has a screw on fitting like a tire valve does. This line comes up from the back of the motor to the right of the distributor and goes down into the intake. Make sure to have a rag handy to catch the fuel seepage. After you connect the pressure tester turn the key on and off three times and read the gage you should have atleast 58 pounds of pressure. If you have 56 pounds it won't run because the fuel injectors are a poppit valve style and need atleast 58 pounds of pressure to operate.

NO POWER TO FUEL PUMP

You may use another brand of relay (say Bosch) then let your electrician make a retrofit to match the connection of the original . Make sure that the current (amps) rating is the same or a little bit higher than the original. If you can't get a unit with higher current rating, use 2 or 3 and connect it in parallel.
