There are o-rings you can buy from the dealer, install the new orings and you should be fine.

What would make a not start unless I pour gas into intake

Hi Clyde:
Since you mention "gas rail" I'm assuming fuel injected.
I'd check the fuel pressure in the rail. Should be around 40 PSI.
If pressure is OK then injectors not working. Time to check cps.
You know the spark side is OK since it will run.

Turns over but wont start pumps fuel into lines but not engine will start if fuel is poured into moror but only long enough to burn fuel poured in

This sounds like fuel injection, is it? Or I think you would have said if it was a carburetor. But if fuel injection, it is the pump and the fuel filter's job to put fuel under pressure in the lines and up to the engine, or really to the injectors. If you have fuel pressure in the line, then you have fuel pressure to the injectors. (If not, check the fuel filter.) And then, it is the injector circuit's job to put the fuel into the cylinders.

Just first be sure the fuel pressure is correct. For throttle body injection, that resembles a carburetor somewhat-the injectors are in the throat, the required pressure is usually around 13-20 psi. But if you have multi-port injection, the pressure requirement is much higher, usually 40 psi or more, sometimes as much as 60 psi. If it is carbureted, though, it takes very low pressure, 5-7 psi, and you would need to check if the gas is actually getting inside the carb and filling the fuel bowl inside.

But back to the injector circuit: every injector has only two wires to it: a power wire and a ground wire. The power wire is constant voltage to the injector as long as the key is in run, or on, or in start. The injector is an electrical solenoid, and it gets the power on one side, and when the ground wire is grounded internally in the engine computer, the solenoid is energized, a fuel passage opens, and the injector sprays fuel out. This is called the injector pulse, it only happens for a split second. But you see why the injector must have fuel under correct pressure to shoot the right amount of gas into the engine. You can check the injector circuit, both power side and ground side, with just a simple test light. Post back if you want that, I can give you the procedure. Good luck, and probably good night.

Starts rough and stalls.

Hi there:
When it acts up like this locate your fuel rail under the hood on the engine.The fuel rail is the component that the fuel injectors are seated into on top of the intake.

On this fuel rail you will see at one end of it that there is a fuel pressure regulator with a vacuum hose connected to it,this will be the only component on the fuel rail that has a vacuum hose connected to it.

Remove the vacuum hose from the regulator and see if fuel pours or dribbles out of this regulator at all.If it does then the regulator needs replaced as no fuel should come out of this at all.

If you do not notice any fuel then let the vehicle sit after being shut off with the vacuum hose off the regulator for around 30 minutes and see if any fuel pours out then.

If it does then the regulator needs replaced.This is a common failure on this engine and will cause the problems you are having here on your vehicle as I have had to replace quite a few of these before to correct this problem.

1986 Toyota rv fuel pump issues. Changed fuel pump still not not getting fuel. Can pour gas into efi and it will start could it be bad fuel pump solenoid? Where would I find that solenoid?

When you turn the key to start it, do you hear the fuel pump whine as it begins to prime the system?
if not then your pump is not getting power, it could be a fuse, a relay, or the cut off, which will kill the fuel pump if it senses force powerful enough to be a collision. Also you may want to replace your fuel filter, it could be clogged and not allowing fuel to get to the engine fast enough or with enough psi.

Replace the idle air solenoid. This sensor controls airflow into the engine to regulate idle speed. You will find the unit around the throttle body. Unplug the electrical connector and remove two or more mounting screws or bolts using a Phillips screwdriver or ratchet and socket.
Step 2Unplug the electrical connector to change the EGR solenoid. This unit controls the introduction of exhaust gases back into the engine through a valve. They come in different configurations. Depending on design, vacuum hoses may be attached to the unit or to the assembly if they share the housing with other components. You may find the solenoid on top and to one side of the engine or by the firewall. Unscrew the mounting bolts using a wrench or ratchet and socket, and disconnect the vacuum hoses.
Step 3Remove the vacuum hoses and unplug the electrical connector to remove the canister purge solenoid. This solenoid uses vacuum flow to carry fuel vapors from the fuel tank into the engine for burning. This small unit may comes in different configurations. Some are cylindrical in shape and may be located almost anywhere around the engine compartment. Follow the vacuum hoses connected to the back of the throttle body to find the unit. Some purge solenoids may be mounted in place with a bolt while others may be just hanging loose on the engine compartment.

Where is the evaporative fuel solenoid on a 1998 sw2 saturn? i have 2 monitors that with not reset on is the solenoid and the other evap system. i have already changed the gas cap. i do not have a service...

Your fuel filter housing is equipped with a faulty drain valve. This valve is there to drain the filter housing of sediments that may have collected around the filter. Since these valves are made of plastic with rubber seals, they will deteriorate over time. The line you mentioned is the tube that diverts drained fuel, from the filter housing. Typically when opened (swung away from housing), this valve sends fuel through the tube to the ground beneath. Although not very environmentally friendly, it keeps fuel from pouring all over hot engine surfaces.(obvious benefits there) These are known to go bad for the reasons stated, and can be readily purchased from you local Ford dealer. You say it wont start in the normal way by just turning it on but if you pour gas in the throttle body
it will start sounds like you have a weak fuel pump most likely but there are a few other things that could cause it also .
