Could be almost anything.
If it cranks good but, won't start, make sure battery has a full charge. Don't crank the starter more than a few seconds at a time, let it cool off. Have helper crank it, while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse, do testing with engine cranking.
How long since a tune-up? Any applicable trouble codes?

Its my mothers car. She says it sputtered while driving then shut off completely after it sputtered. Wont start but cranks over. Dunno because the car is 1,000 miles away from me...but sounds like it could be Tune up,Ignition switch,or maybe the timing chain? What do you think? Thanks.

Ok my problem is my wife was going down the road and hit the brake as she came to a stop sign and out of the blue it starts accelerating and took her putting it in neutral and shutting off the car to get...

run the fault codes to determine the fault. If the ignition is off and the engine is still running then the fault is very serious and should be repaired promptly and not driven until the fault is identified and fixed. A run away engine is deadly on the road.

During my traveling 40 miles each day to work and back, my 1991 Accord simply stops running while going down the road. I have to pull off the road and continue trying to start it, sit and wait, sometimes...

Have you replaced the main power relay? It's what causes the 90's Accords to just suddenly shut off and not want to start back for a few. Also, how old is your distributor? It's another problem part on those Accords, that has all these sensors inside that go bad.

I was driving down the road and the car died and wont start anymore. It turns over and starts for about half a seconds on occasion. The fuel system has been redone in the last few years. so I'm thinking...

a bad O2 sensor will not keep the car from starting or running. lack of spark or fuel are top two reasons to cause the car to stop running. look in those two areas first.

Car just stopped (sudden stop) when it's running on the road.

You will need to Change the Fuel Pump and Fuel Filter and Also Check the Belt Tension. If it is even a little loose it will not Charge the Battery and could cause this problem also. Let me know what you find.

Jetta 95 won´t start

Moisture in your ignition system can cause this to happen , start with a cap/rotor and wire replacement. More then likely this will cure your rainy day blues.

1994 Sentra running rough

thanks for asking , i am sorry to tell you that the problem you asking for could be for a lot of reasons , but , i will try to help you by tell you some things to check it , first you should be sure that the car is not over heated , and and the sparks are good , and all the cylinders are working properly and that by removing each spark wire but every one separately and see if any change happen ,if no change happen with one of the sparks so you found the problem and it is that you r car don't work with all it's cylinders , but if that will not be easy for you to do it your self , so be sure that if you driven the car to a local garage no damage will happened , and don't worry that shouldn't cost you a lot of money , and thank you for using fixya.
