I have a 1994 BMW I havethe code for the radio but I can't unlock

I have a 1994 BMW that I just purchased I have the code for the radio but I can't unlock it. As I put the code in it begins to beep. I successfull put the code two other times with no problem. Then I drove it again and I can't unlock the radio. The manual says if while you are putting the code in it begains to beep stop immediately.

I recently had my starter motor replaced. When I got in to drive my car the radio was showing "CODE" I have the code for my radio serial number (if you don't then you will need to get the serial number from the back of your radio unit and call your local BMW dealer, they have a database that they can look up for the correct code). Nothing was working and the unit kept beeping at me! I was trying everything and nothing was working. I since found out that the unit had "locked" me out! I rang the dealership, they said to leave the car in ignition with the radio on for exactly 1 hour (this resets it) then put in the code. Voila! It worked!

Radio Codes

A dealer will have this code based on the Vin. How ever if you have the original owners manual it should be in it.

Most likely your antennae wire popped off the radio. Anti-theft usually locks you out after a 3rd time of entering the wrong code. Then you have to leave power off to it for a day and try again.

Normally the dealer just needs to know the serial and it will give you the code in less than a minute. If the code they gave you doesn't work then the radio unit  has been modified and the only ones that know what was modified  are the ones that did it.
Just bite the bullet and get a new radio - one with an iPod hookup , your wife will appreciate that.

Radio unlock code

Dear Madam or Sir,

the unlock code can only be recovered by the BMW Dealer, it´s saved in the BMW databases. The dealer only needs to know the vehicle identification number of your car.

BMW 325 i 1999 ''code wait'' in the radio

It normally says CODEWAIT because wrong codes have been entered previously.

The usual solution is to LEAVE SWITCHED ON....UNDISTURBED for as long as it takes to automatically reset itself.

This can sometimes be many hours as the waiting time doubles after each wrong code. However, normally , it is only an hour or two.

Need the unlocked code for my radio in my 1994 bmw 540i

you'll need to take your VIN and the radio serial number (located on the back of the radio) and maybe even one of the master keys to a BMW dealer and they will look it up for you.

Radio code

Do you happen to have the owners manual for your car? Or the original paperwork? Or try calling your dealer to see if they have any record of the parts/serial numbers. If you have no luck there, then you will have to remove the radio to get the SN of the radio, or at least pull it out far enough to look under the radio for a sticker or decal that has the number.
