Question about 1989 Jeep Comanche

Brake light on 1989 jeep comanche. Sometimes when i apply the brakes the light comes on sometimes it dose not. I need to know what I might need to do to fix the problem.

Hello, this sounds like a brake lamp switch it is located around the brake pedal area, renew this and your problem should go.

You have to remove the brake backing plate and then pull the shaft with a slide hammer.Or if the car was right on the changover the backing plate of the diff needs to come off.Push the axles in and remove the c shaped clip.DON'T let the pinion gears move..Hope this helps

the easy way would be to check the bulbs elements if 1 of them is burnt all u have to do is replace it.then check the brake switch which is under the steering column u cant miss it the brake peddle rests against it when not being pressed down,which is how it works too.also check all the fuses.if all else fails start checking wires.

How do you remove front brake pads from 4x4 jeep Comanche. Pands wont come out. do I deed to remove slide pins?

U need to remove the two bolts holding the caliper,slide back the outer half, then u can remove the pads.

Brake warning light on dash does not work

There is only one wire to the emergecy brake, when it is grounded it completes the circuit to the light.

check under dash for leaking vaccum switch. usually manufacturers use vac switches to release the e-brake automatically when applying the brake.
