Question about 1997 Honda Accord

My 1997 Honda Accord V6 won't stay cranked

It will turn like it wants to crank but it won't stay crank. I had the people at advance auto parts do a diagnostic test and it said that it was my speed sensor. Would the speed sensor cause my car not to stay cranked up? The day it started acting up i had it in parked and it was acting if it just wanted to cut off. Please help

Your speed sensor may cause other problems like not shiftig all gears, if the car acts like it is cutting of, check for proper fuel pressure, air intake firlter, spark plugs, throthle positioner sensor, idle motor.

Can I bypass the crank sensor on a 1997 Automatic Honda Accord?

They both have crank sensors. crank sensor is the same as RPM sensor. Both cars need rpm signal. You could compare the inputs and match differences...but BYPASSING or skipping isnt ever a good idea. The 97 if I recall required crank and tdc. the 93 simply had a distributor reluctor generating both,.
WHat I recommend is you dont mix and match engines that arent compatible or change the incompatible pieces. Life is much easier both at 1st start and in the future when it needs repair.
However, you can get the crank/rpm signal from the 93 distributor, move it to the same wires ast he 97 lists, and it MAY fire. Youll still have to deal with cam and TDC, and all sorts of other incompatioble parts.. the 93 5 speed ECM should still work fine, so its a 5 speed? the engine doesnt care. Was t just not cranking because of the clutch switch input you now didnt have? You could jumper those pins (blue n black?) and bypass that. At least then all your ECM inputs are correct and in the right pins. That seems alot easier than mixing and matching year parts.

I have a 2002 Honda Accord V6. When I go to start the engine, it takes forever! It cranks but will not start for a long time. Someone said it may be the fuel pressure regulator, does anyone else know

Could be the fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs, wires, cap, rotor. Did you have anybody do a fuel pressure test on it. I've owned honda's before. How many miles since timing belt was change. Timing could be off. You can test with a timing light or by having it hooked to a diagnostic tester at Autozon, O'riellys or Advance Auto.

how many miles/km on your car. Part of regular service is to replace the timing belt. Most cars is every 100000Km. When timing belt goes will still crank but won't start.

What kind of car battery should i buy for my 2000 honda accord

Any good parts store should be able to point you in the right direction. Car batteries come in different series - size, post configurations and cold cranking amps. Prices vary generally due to warranty period - the longer warranty the more expensive. If you plan on keeping car for a long time or if you live in a cold climate, it's best advised to buy the biggest you can afford. If not plan on keeping car long by minimum.

94 honda accord problems cranking it

check the ignition control module, honda's are notorious for faulty control modules,if you take off the distributor cap you will see it attached inside the distribuyor on the side wall,It can be replaced for around $60 at auto zone, advanced auto, or your nearest auto parts store.make sure you pay attencion to how the 4 wires are connected (take a picture with cell phone or camera,or write it down)

1997 Honda Accord, 4 cyl, auto trans. When I turn

The starter sit on top I belive on the passenger side above the transmission, have some one hold the key to start while you tap or even hit the starter some time it will crank over if it does replace it, not that big of a job. If it still dont start there a big wire that one comes from the battery and a small one that come from you ignition switch ( key ) jump those two wire's ( if stander transmission make sure you have it out of gear ) there should be voltage at big wire all the time, if it still dont crank over replace starter assembly.Hope this was very helpful.
