No indicator lights and not overheating
Popping is usually valves. Ticking/tapping is lifters, push rods, or worn rocker arms, knocking is crank bearings or piston wrist pins. popping is bent, carboned up, or burnt valves. Popping can be threw the throttle body or exhaust.
I recently had a guy look at it. Come to find out it is popping coming from the transmission. When you put your hand on the casing for the transmission you can feel the pops from under the car. The transmission shifts perfectly. It's like something is hitting the casing. It only happens when it is in park and gets louder when you push on the throttle as far as I can tell.
That's not good. Only thing I can think of that would do this is a clutch band. I can say I have never heard this. But if the band was heated and warp, it could produce this sound. The reason it goes away is because to servo tighten the band around a drum. Any thing else in the transmission will Be grinding noises.
Would that cause the indicator light to come on?
It could. Another thing would be the chain in it. This would/could slap the case. But I have never seen one that stretched out. If this has the sound in park/neutral. It could be internal transmission. If it only happens when driving , look to axles and or bearings.

Maybe tappets gone or a valve. no indicator lights sounds like an electrical fault check indicators/hazards fuse

Would a bad valve cause the indicator light to come on? The light does come on at the start of the car with all the rest of the lights and then they all shut off after a couple seconds. Doesn't that mean the light is in working condition?
