    Dear Mark,

The control unit was our next focus, with the understanding that the small harness between the ignitor(behind the bulb)and the control unit may be corroded or loose. Access is our challenge. Is the left headlight control unit directly under the light assembly, and if so, does reaching it require the removal of the bumper?
Thank you for responding. Take care.

Hi , have you checked the contol unit that is fixed to the underside of the headlight , you may find that this unit has moisture inside it or the terminals are corroded, if this is the case the unit will need to be replaced , regards mark

Well can be one of the 3 components in the zenon lights system, the first thing to check is the bulb, be careful dont touch it with bare hands , second thing is the Burner electronic Item and the last thing is the Module ( electronic ) your best option is to take it to any bmw authorize delaer , i had the same problems and was the module, the previous owner use to wash the engine and water got inside de module , i replace the module , the burner the bulbs ( 4 of them ) at a 950.00 cost from dealer., is not cheap, dont buy zenon buls at regular autoparts are not BMW factory item the durabily and the light system is made with cheap and low quality materials. if you have a Bimmer keep it right !

What would cause the low beam headlight not to work when all other lights work?

If you have standard halogen bulbs:

  1. Burned out light bulb; or
  2. Fried wires between the dashboard wiring harness and the headlight bulb connectors; or
  3. Fried headlight bulb connectors.
If you have HEI emitters:
  • Failed ballast.

Audi A4 2002 Low beams & Right front turn signal stopped working

For Audi A4 the fuse box is located on the left side of dashboard behind a plastic cover (for left hand steering wheel vehicle). On inner face of the plastic cover you will find the fuse diagram.
First fuse on first row from left upper corner is Fuse Nr.20 = F20 (15A) - RH headlamp low beam, headlamp adjustment.
First fuse on second row from left upper corner is Fuse Nr.21 = F21 (15A) - LH headlamp low beam, headlamp adjustment.

When low beam headlight is on passenger sign is

Try this to eliminate new bulbs for both sides:
With a partner behind the wheel:
PULL out the bulbs one at a time. Keep them plugged in. While you are holding the bulb - have your partner click and HOLD the High Beam Selection. This causes the Low Beam and High Beam filaments to both go on and stay on.
Check both sides this way.
While the bulbs are out, look at the filaments that did not illuminate. Are they broken, bent, or have indications they are burnt out?
You can also change to bulbs (left to right, right to left) and recheck using the above method of holding the high beam selector and checking the filaments.

Sounds like you need a bulb, the daytime running lights send power to the high beam wire so they look like low beam lights are on but really they are high beam lights running on low voltage.

Left zenon low beam flickers and the left front bulb warning indicator is on

Sounds like the power ballast is failing - that's what takes the 12v signal from the car and amplifies it up to a level sufficient for driving the xenon bulb. Swap the ballasts between the headlights (they're easy to dismount) and see if the flicker goes to the other side (swap only the ballasts - leave the bulbs in their existing positions). If the flicker moves to the other side, the ballast is the problem. If it stays on the left side, the bulb needs replacement.

Search online for the bulbs - the dealer will kill you on pricing (the Audi dealership wants $200 each for my A4's xenon bulbs, but I can find them online for about $30 per pair (or less)). You'd want to order a D2S style bulb for an OEM BMW fitment, in 4300k color temperature.

2002 audi s3 zenon headlight is to low is it possible to adjust it manualy if so how

The adjustment screws/nuts should be located either on the top of the headlamp assembly, behind the headlamp assembly, or near the frame rail by the radiator support.

You will have vertical adjustment screws for each independent beam (separate highs and separate lows, but will be same screw if highs and lows are the same bulb). You may also have additional horizontal adjustment screws as well

Park your car on a level ground 30 feet from a wall and measure the height from the ground to the bulb and mark on a wall (do this for highs beams and low beams if the bulbs are separate, if highs and lows are the same bulb, only do it for the lows)

For Low Beams: If the headlights read VOR, then aim the brightest part or cutoff part just below the mark on the wall. If it says VOL or nothing, aim them 2 inches below the mark on the wall.

For High Beams (if separate from low beams): Aim the headlight directly at the line you marked on the wall.

Headlight low beam

Test to see if you have voltage at the bulb connector in low beam position. I'd almost bet that if there is no voltage there for the low beams that you have a bad high/low switch.

This is a bulb and is very easy to replace. You might want to buy a pair since other side will go out soon also. Simply twist connector behind light system, pull and replace bulb. good luck
