Fuel in engine base oil

I'm not much on diesels, but for gas engines the most common source is a leaking injector or fuel pressure regulator.

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya:
This is caused from 1 of 3 things
1 .the steering box being worn out Most common.
2 the tie rods are misadjusted or are worn out
3. the power steering pump is leaking and has either went air bound or has failed
I would take this as a serious matter and get this vehical into a shop and have it looked at asap ok?
hope this helps

When applying brake on2003 chevy 3500 duramax dully power steering is lost. what are possible causes

I think your truck has a hydrostatic break system and it is driven off of the power steering pump. Check the fluid first in the power steering.

I have a 2006 chevy silverado with a 6.6 litre diesle that has what i think is a power steering fluid leak up at the master cylander or break booster on the fire wall the hoses run from the power steering...

The Duramax trucks by Chevy and GMC use Hydro-Boost brakes, meaning that they use a hydrolic pump for the brakes and the steering. GM has had real trouble with leaky Hydrlic hoses on all their trucks for a few years (like my truck) for leaking coolant lines from the trans and as I found out today during my oil change, coming from the hydro-boost. These are replacable, but not under warrenty for you or me.

02 silverado 2500 duramax- loss of power steering/brakes

I know GM decided to run the brakes and power steering vacumm all off of the power steering pump on some of their trucks. This could really be a big problem because if your power steering quit it would stop supplying your brakes with vacuum to stop the truck. In my experience I would check out the situation with the steering pump. Change it for a new one. Don't take any chances on smashing your truck.
