Is the check engine light on? Take it to any autoparts store and they should read the fault codes for you at no charge. It sounds like you should check the relay for the cooling fan and possibly the coolant temperature sending unit. If you register your vehicle at autozone.com, you will have access to a full online repair manual for your particular vehicle. It is free. Hope this helped.

Auto Camry 97 cooling fan is not switching on automatically, the temp gauge shows normal temp. Also both AC and cooling fan works when AC is switched on?

If the temp gauge shows normal, you would not expect the fan to be on much. It is controlled by the coolant temp sensor. If the fan will not come on when the car gets really hot, it is possible this sensor has failed.

It is normal for both AC and cooling fans to be on when you turn on AC to cool setting.

Their is 2 sensor on this vehicle 1 is for the Temp gauge and the other is for the Fan you probably changed the wrong one they both look exactly the same.

Car overheats. didn'T THINK FAN WAS WORKING BUT WHEN YOU TURN ON THE AIR CONDITIONING THE FAN WORKS.

You will need to see if the fan operates when overheating, there are diffrent sensors for the cooling and ac cooling, the good thing is that the fan works, this would tell me it may be a bad coolant temp sensor or thermostat, you will need to let it run and as the gauge passes the middle point feel to see if both upper and lower rad hoses are hot, if only one is hot then you may have a bad thermostat, is they are both hot and fan doesnt turn on and car overheats then you should replace the coolant temp sensor, stat with these tests and see the result, hope this helps.

Temp gauge goes to full hot while at Idle

Check the auxiliary cooling fan for operation. As the engine temp rises, it should kick on to bring the temp down. U may have a bad motor on the fan, or more likely a bad fan switch.

1991 Toyota Camry Temp gauge inoperative

Switch ig. on, ground the sender unit wire for about 3 seconds see if the temp. gauge moves, if so change sender unit, if not then it is a faulty gauge reader.
